Aircraft cargo tie downs. Used with chain. If I remember correctly, the proper chains are 5/16" link, about 6 feet long, and have a chain hook on one end that's bent to lay flat back parallel with the chain.
ATF is the fluid used in the power steering system. The hydraulic steering pump powers the steering, hydroboost for the brakes, and the fan clutch. The pictures you posted are all around that area. Check out that system...
Anything is possible with enough time and money. There is a lot of room in the Gama Goat engine compartment. You'd have to be creative to mount and drive the A/C compressor. Where would you mount the condenser? If you want a Gama Goat for R&D purposes I have a couple for sale...
Here's my take on the gama goat... I've had my personal M561 for about ten years now, and maintained three others in operational condition for a museum where I used to work. Mine was my daily driver for about a year soon after I got it. When I say daily driver, I mean it, as I didn't own a...
I don't know what engine oils y'all are using but here's a reminder that Detroit is very specific about not using multi viscosity (IE 15W40) in two strokes. According to documentation that I have read and what the Detroit dealer told me, for normal operating temperatures, they specify CF-2...
Looks like it might be a Marine Corps Gama Goat. It has a winch and what looks like the ammo can bracket on the passenger side center fender that goes with the M60 mount. All originally USMC M561s that I've seen have these features.
Check your high/low shift lever for the transfer case to be sure it's adjusted properly and engaging fully. I was driving my first M816 out on the road for the first time and had an issue similar to yours. I had driven it a few miles around in the yard in all the gears and everything seemed...
I agree with clinto. There is no substitute for a clean blasted surface. I've scraped, wire brushed, and sanded by hand, worn out many wire brush cups and wheels on grinders, used a needle scaler, pressure washed, and other stuff. I still sand blast when possible.
Congratulations on purchasing your jeep! I concur with NDT and Clinto. From personal experience I've driven thousands of miles in gasoline military vehicles from the 1940s-1970s on standard pump gas and never had an issue. Lots of those miles have been in Jeeps with the L and F 134 engine. One...
I also have one new M939 series 5 ton insulated vinyl cab top for sale. It's out of the box, but still has the paper on the zippered window and is very clean. $325
I'm looking for a multi-fuel engine can. Please PM me with details and price if you have one!
I really only need the lid, but I doubt anyone has just the lid laying around...
Best I recall the drain plugs are all NPT. The engine is 3/4" or 1" and I think the differentials are 2" maybe? It's been a while since I've looked at them and I'm not near mine to look right now. The standard alternator is the usual M-Series 60 amp, though the pulley is application specific...
I've had had good luck with Gillespie mixing 25% mineral spirits, 75% paint. Depending on temperature and how it flows I usually spray at 30-40 psi out of a Binks one quart siphon type paint gun.
I'll be there Thursday through Sunday. I have two replica M16A2 rifles (The A1s in the picture have been sold) and 5 Titan 11.00-20 NDCC Tires. Four of the tires were run for about 300 miles before switching to radials. The fifth is a good take off with about 75% tread. Some have tubes and...
