Marine Corp, or, Early Deuce Vin Number

Hi Ed, If you found 376305 some where on your truck, it is most likely your USMC hood number. Between my Dad and I, we have owned several USMC vehicles from the 1960's. All of the hood numbers, regardless of vehicle size, have been six digits, and all started with "3". We've had a few later...

    Wc-51

Looks like a fairly complete, mostly original truck! Is it an ex-Norwegian vehicle? I ask because it appears to have several extra holes in the same locations mine had, from their modifications. The serial number on the frame is located under the drivers side front fender. It should match the...

    WC-63 Brake Cylinder Compatibility

I'll preface this by saying that I have no first hand experience with a WC-62 or WC-63 6X6 Dodge. I do, however, have a 1942 WC-51, and have worked on a few M37s. The wheel cylinders are the same between the WW2 3/4 Ton Dodges and the M37 series. There are left wheel cylinders and right wheel...

What type of rifle to mount on my MUTT?

I sell the replicas, here's a link: http://www.hardscrabblefarm.com/replicas/index.htm For mounts, I usually recommend Doug Green at Bismarck Guns and Artillery: http://www.bismarckguns.com/ Good luck with your project!

What type of rifle to mount on my MUTT?

To help support my military vehicle hobby I offer M60 replicas built on real demilled receivers using a combination of demilled and reproduction parts. They are ready to be vehicle mounted and will fit right into a M142 cradle. Send me a PM if you're interested.

    Wrecker Oil Can Bracket

Snapped these pics for you yesterday while using the M816 to pull the powerpack and replace the clutch in my Dad's 151. The oil can pictured came with the truck when it was excessed. I found it in one of the tool boxes, still has oil in it!

    Problem shooting on my m37

1st issue... Weak or no spark when hot, but runs ok cold? It's likely your ignition coil is failing when it gets hot. I'd try replacing it, along with the points and condenser. WillWagner covered the play in the distributor rotor. If you think you still have sufficient spark for it to run...

    M816/936 etc Stabiliser leg security

Here's a couple pics of the pins and chains on our M816. As you can see, one end of the chain is welded to the bed, and one end is welded to the pin so that the pin can't be lost. When the pin is placed into the hole with the bent end in the "U bracket", the chain is pulled across the opening...

    Civy brake hoses?

Royal Brass and Hose in Marietta made all of mine. I had their Little Rock location do a set for me too for one of the goats at the museum I work at. Seems like they were $20-$30 per hose depending on length and what they were made of (I had a couple done in stainless braid).

    Timing

I might be wrong, but I think the timing spec of 2°atdc was since it was rated to run on 68 octane gas... I set the timing on my 230 by ear, then checked it with a timing light out of curiosity. It's been a few years, but I'm pretty sure it was around 6° btdc. I hand crank it often, never had...

    Northern Climate multi fuel oil..?

My M35A2 has AMSOIL 15W-40 synthetic "heavy duty diesel and marine oil" in it. It did when I acquired it. It also has synthetic oil in the drive train. The previous owner put about 10,000 miles on it, and I've driven it about 1,200 in the last year and a half. No problems and no leaks. I got the...

The Goat may be just what the doctor ordered.

Hi Samtech79, To answer a few questions about Gama Goats, a stock vehicle in good condition will easily cruise at 60MPH on level ground. Hills will slow you down some. Here is a video I made in mine last year on the way home from the GA Rally: Gama Goat Cruising at 60 MPH - YouTube Steering is...

    WC-51 Restoration or Bust!!

Hmmmm... Looks like that electrolysis worked pretty good! I have a very rusty Ben Hur trailer, a 5 ton wrecker, and a swimming pool that we don't ever use... Wonder if I could dump a 55 gallon drum full of baking soda into the pool (30,000 gallons) and suspend the trailer from the lunette eye...
