Sounds like either a radiator hose going to the heater core or the heater core itself (although most of the time the heatercore will leak inside the passenger floorboard)
It might be where the hose is connected to the heatercore, check and tighten the clamps on the hoses.
What's $200 ? I missed the point ,I guess.
Replacing the head on this motor is like replacing the head on any V8. May be more involved when you get in there to see why or what cracked the head.
Swoosh, man that one got past me. I didn't even notice that it was an old thread.
The good thing is that Wreckerman is a member of the DDMVC.
My truck did the same thing after I bypassed the resister. Knowing that I needed new GPs, I thought they would correct the problem. However, after I changed the GPs to the AC60s, it still did the same thing.
Doghead, I may have over looked pictures of the resistor bypass but I had a few...
I need to do the same. Do you have the Parts number of the one you bought (assumming you bought it) ? The auto parts stores list a couple in different lengths and I want to make sure I get the right one. I think the correct one is 100" long but not sure.
ssgt,
You bought the wrong one from O'Reilly's, the one you chould have bought is PArt # WT5133. Here is the link
BWD WT5133 - Coolant Temperature Sensor | O'Reilly Auto Parts
It is exactly the same as the original.
I bought one about 3 weeks ago from my local O'Reillys store. They...
A couple of weeks ago I changed all 3 fan/alternator belts. Replaced Alternator #2.
This weekend I changed the glowplugs and the coolent temp sensor.
Today I purchased a momentary toggle switch to use in a few days to do the glowplug controller card bypass as a backup. I will let the card...
Don't forget to bring new radiator hoses, fan belts and water/coolent. I have done recoverys both ways but I really prefer to use a trailer rather than try to drive a vehicle in an unknown condition.
Well I got around to pulling out the hummer glow plugs thank the LORD above that all plugs came out fine. I had a borrowed Glow Plug removal tool but didn't need it. All I used was a 1/4" drive ratched 2" extention and 10mm deep well socket socket to get 7 of the plugs out. For the rear plug on...
This afternoon while on the way to town, I was about to pass an old garage where I had looked at couple of "GL" CUCVs sitting there a couple of years ago. I decided to stop in to see if he had an alternator he might want to sale since I needed a spare. To make a long story short, I bought a...
Doghead, AllenEM & Pig,
Thanks, that was fast.
Hmmmm now things are falling into place.
This M1009 has always been had to start. Always seemed cold natured even in 50 degree weather I would have to cycle the plugs a couple of times before it would start. Friends up North in cold weather...
I'm just a few days out from changing my glowplugs in my '84 M1009 and have purchased a set of the AC Delco 60Gs to put in. I know that the spade on the 60G plugs are wider than the original ones and wil need to be ground down so the original clips will fit the spades.
As I was preparing to...
I have an 1984 M1009 and an 1986 K10 pickup (non CUCV). They both run the 31x10.50 Uniroyal Liberator A/T tires which I purchased from Walley World (Walmart) . I like these tires.
One of my son's knuckhead buddies ran his dodge pickup out of diesel fuel on the interstate. They poured 5 gallons of fuel in the tank and it wouldn't crank. They called me. I grabbed some wrenches and drove down to where they were. handed him the wrench and told him to loosen the injector line...
