In the drilling business we modified many trucks to mount different kinds of equipment on them. The modifications usually involved attaching various components and/or lengthening the frame.
I don’t have much time today, but I wanted to do a quick response since welding on the frame often...
I have a 3 axle step deck I got out of Barstow a few years ago. I picked up some of the original steel ramps ReoRider shows in the first picture. They are 10' long and 2' wide and HEAVY! I don't use them all that often and almost always have a forklift to move them.
They use C channel on the...
The PLS are a lot beefier, although their rated payload isn't that much more @ 16.5 tons. The DROPS has 350 horsepower vs 450-500 on the older PLS and up to 700 hp (I think) on the new PLS. If you are just doing parade duty, not that big a deal- if you are working it or climbing hills to get to...
I have several MK48's & HEMTT's that sit a lot, so I have just been using a pair of group 31 batteries that are easy to move around vehicle to vehicle. They have been working great although I wouldn't have the reserve power if I had to crank a bunch to bleed the fuel lines or something.
I have both MK48 and HEMTT and agree with the previous 4 replies. The MK48's top end is a little over 50 and the HEMTT close to 60 + or-. Both are more comfortable to drive at 5 or 10 mph under top speed.
There a lot of variables that impact the comfort level (or pucker factor)-the road...
FWIW, the -10 Operator's Manuals usually have a section near the front that outlines the differences between the models' variants. It isn't as good as first hand knowledge, but it is a good starting point.
Here is the section from TM-9-2320-366-10-1 for the M1083.
We sold a neighbor a M35A3 and he saw these Michelin 445/65R19.5 tires mounted on 10 hole bud rims that we had. They were made as a retrofit kit for the M1000 trailer that the M1070 pulls to improve mobility in the sandbox. The center hole diameter matched the A3's and he had the capability to...
I remember a couple of threads about high temp readings that seemed wrong and they came up with solutions I as I recall.- I think this was bout two years I think. I'll see if I can find those.
Well, I found one of the sales they were in, but I know there were three or four sales that had several of these CBC in each sale.
Government cost $45,157.00 according to GL's manifest. Let me know if the link doesn't work for you.
sale 14196 lots 1208-1210 out of Groveport...
They sold at least a dozen in the past year- almost all out of Lockbourne OH warehouse. They were new-never issued condition and went for about $1,200 I think. I'll see if I can find some links to some of the lots. I got one out of Ft Lewis WA that was sort of beat up-haven't checked it out much...
First you need to know what the new tire tire tread depth was so you can determine % tread left. It is pretty easy to google the brand of tire & get the catalog with specs.
Here is Goodyear's https://www.goodyear.com/cfmx/web/gov/pdf/military_tire_brochure.pdf
general info on HMMWV tires...
Tires should all have date codes, but many of the military tires- especially the older ones- don't have date codes.
Lots of tires have a 19/32nds tread depth,, but that isn't a standard. You need to look at what the original tread depth was. The military off road tires usually have quite a bit...
Any luck with this? It sure sounds like a fuel issue. The MK48s I've seen all had ball valves right at the outlet from each tank and the hoses had JIC swivel fittings. Easy to pull the hose off the discharge side, then open the valve to make sure fuel is coming out of tank. If the fuel is bad...
I measured the core for the Mk48 radiator. It looks just like these photos. The rectangle as shown in photo #3 above is 7.75" wide x 49" long, bolt holes on 2" centers except near the corners where there are some extras. The core is about 43.5" tall. I have a complete PLS radiator and the core...
Maybe you could get the dimensions of the core itself, I have a couple of cores and complete radiators for the MK48-
Info on the core's NSN 2930012070633 says 46.5" Width x 3" x 43.25" Height I'll measure them this weekend and confirm.
Complete radiator NSN 2930011816743 has 49.0" width...
