Very good tips Andy, thanks! Just got my MVT 395s mounted on a set of HEMTTs and took quite a bit of dish soap mix and patience. Had to guess on the torque spec, but only have 10lbs in the tires to keep the beads seated until I found that part out.
Had a few instances where the HEMTTs were...
Welcome to the board Rick! The increasing level of FL members is always a good thing to see. Would love to come to the rally myself, if only for a single day, but my deuce is still sporting leaky NDTs, not the meaty stack of 395s sitting beside it.
You won't regret buying a deuce - they are a...
Looking for a set of modified HEMTTs for my M35A2, to fit this stack of 395s I have sitting here and those look nice Avenge.
Can you mount them on the rear, inside out, so you don't have to flip the hubs (hard to see if there is a chamfer on the inside on the bolt holes). If so, how does the...
Hey Donk - you still have these wheels for sale? PM'd you twice, but haven't heard any response. Guessing you are probably out of town, or maybe sold out. In any case, please let me know if you still have them when you have a chance.
Thanks,
-Frank
The Napa muffler toned downed my deuce a bit - it really is a straight through muffler, so the performance hit should be negligible. Not too mention, the install only took about 60 minutes with a Sawzall and making a custom bracket to hold it in place. Used Stainless clamps that one would use in...
Thanks for that tidbit - mine does something similar. Every time you tap the glass on it, you get a slightly different reading =|
I'll remount it this afternoon to hopefully redo the ground
I can't imagine it'd be all that hard or expansive to build a breadboard with the right shape with an array of LEDs in parallel on it and a resistor to drop the voltage. Or just use existing LED arrays for marker, tail/lights and assemble using that.
Was never sure why they cost so much, but...
Thanks all for the feedback. I did search before posting and found several coolant filter installs - I just didn't know who was right with both plumbing possibilities represented. ;-)
Hoping as time wears on that the glass filter will run clear eventually, then will switch to a filter with...
The NAPA one does make it quieter and the installation was easy. It does have a little weight to it, so you should make a bracket to hold it in place. I used (2) stainess pipe clamps designed for drain waste pipe, which are nice and big. They have not snapped yet.
During my coolant filter install, I had a question I could not answer about the plumbing of the coolant filter. Specifically, which hose went to which side of the filter? To add to the confusion, I have seen them plumbed BOTH ways here on SS. Obviously, I wanted to coolant to flow from the...
Hey Ian, thanks for the info! The one thing on the deuce I can't really work on and adjust properly is that injector pump, so good to know someone local is competent with them.
Thanks,
-Frank
TNJ Murray was also my choice as well. For $125 for brand new torque bars (with new nuts too), it simply made little economical sense to do the new bushing route, so ordered (6) from him.
Have done the four lowers already and broken loose one side of the top ones. I'll be using the above socket...
Thought I would share a tool that I found at Napa, specifically which makes the torque bar replacement a bit easier. It is a stubby 1-1/2 socket, 1/2 drive, and it's only $11. Part number 61-4048 and it fits quite nicely without having to take apart the springs. Pictures below
While working under the deuce, replacing the torque bars and resting between assaults of the sledge hammer on the pickle fork, I noticed a small leak at the base of one of my drums. After pulling off the 2 tires, and wondering if they were that heavy, I pondered how heavy the hub and drum...
Gee, this sounds familiar. The entire left underside of my truck has a nice thin coat of engine oil from my air pumps base leaking (probably for years). Kept everything from rusting quite well, but need to address it eventually.
Good to know one can cut one out of paper board, and just RTV it...
Haven't done it yet, but this reminds me - I was planning on disconnecting mine shortly to prevent either this scenario from happening, or it binding the pedal throttle cable in any way (call it a pet peeve).
Hope your Deuce is ok, but they seem like tough machines for the limited time I have...
The plastic air brake line worked excellent for me as well. However, for the ferrules and the inserts, I went to the local ACE hardware store and bought those (far cheaper than Napa - who didn't have enough of them anyways) that you would use for a water line - fits the air brake hose perfectly...
Haha, thanks for that - that was great.
My fuel gauge has been inop since I got my truck, so I just peek into the tank to see if I see fuel sloshing at the bottom before going anywhere. Might fix it one day, but not high on the list =)
