    Axle U-bolts

Matt and I did the same thing apparently, with the same reliable chemical - PB Blaster. Lots of digging out the clay/dirt and soaking. And of course pounding relentlessly with a small sledge. Hehe ok. But how hard would it have been for the designers to makes that surface flat or ideally...

    Axle U-bolts

Thanks Dave and I couldn't agree more on the PM - every time I do one I find more stuff to fix/improve/replace. I'm hopeful those are the original bolts because if they are, the new set will likely outlast me. Thanks, Frank

    Axle U-bolts

Am hesitant to call this a deuce design flaw, but I could never figure out why there's a nice pocket above the axle U-bolts to collect all sorts of dirt and rot out the U-bolts over time. Mine was filled with red clay, likely from the southeast somewhere and the U-bolts were in bad shape. Short...

    WOW, brush truck 45

Just a fyi - if you get to a website where it does not let you save the pictures, just bypass their security by doing this: 1. Hit that 'Print Screen' key on your keyboard (may be hold down ctrl or alt, then hit 'prt sc') This copies the screen you are viewing to the clipboard 2. Open up...

    Check your break lines...

Thanks for the brake line reminder - have NOS set, but have not put them on as of yet as am soaking the old fittings in PB Blaster to save another headache. Had my wheel bearings cleaned by either a bad axle seal, or a plugged vent line pressurizing the axle case and forcing oil through the...

Compatible transmissions for the M35a3 with the cat 3116

Rarely have the nerve to drive mine over 45, even with 395s - it sounds like something is going to break/explode with the drive-train noise level at that speed. Edit - oops - i see A3 now - likely runs a bit quieter than an A2 =)

    bolt on power steering kit

I agree - while I enjoy the workout driving the deuce around, especially with the 395s on it, a hydraulic assist would be a huge plus. Thanks!

Cut open coolant filter from the deuce

Wow, ick. Installed a coolant filter on mine and will have to cut it open to see what surprises exist in it now. Anyone have any opinion (or know if a requirement) on filters that have the additive (DCA) to prevent cavitation issues that exist on other diesels? Or are our deuces immune from...

    Turbine Generator Identification

It'd be worth having one just for the sound they make as the turbine spools up and come to operating speed. Thanks for the video link - wonder what that popping/sputtering sound is as it spools up. Bet it's annoying loud as well (a good thing) =)

I think I would win the Ugliest MV Award

Pctrans - let me guess, a genset that had its' life near the beach? That the one up from Canaveral by chance?

    Felling trees with a M35A2

Thanks Greg - appreciate the offer to come get the wood. If I didn't have a fireplace, I'd have taken you up on it, but my fireplace loves oak =) Treeguy - I wasn't expecting a crater in the yard, but the tractor has a front end loader on it, so it'll be easy enough to fix. Getting the massive...

    Felling trees with a M35A2

Thanks guys - all this military hardware does come in handy at times, least that's what I keep telling the wife.

    Felling trees with a M35A2

Hi all, Had a 60'+ tree right beside my house that, since I live in Florida, became the tallest object and thus a frequent lightning rod. A very dead, unstable lightning rod specifically eying my house. It had to come down, but paying someone $2000+ to do it professionally wasn't going to...

how to replace in tank fuel pump fuse

Thanks for that! Now I know what's under that cap and why it's so darn big - it's a fuse holder. Haven't taken mine apart as it hums nicely when I turn the pump switch on in the truck. My day will come though, so appreciate the guide. -Frank

    Junk Air-Packs

Thank you very much for that tidbit! (and the article too, of course) -Frank

    Injection pump oil lines

"Forget it. I am sorry to anyone who wanted them but it looks like everyone has a better idea. Last time I try to help anyone" Ignore the nay sayers - there's a lot of us who greatly appreciate new parts over NOS that are far superior and don't have the exciting factor that can accompany a 30...

    Whistler turbo

If you are getting fuel and the ear piercing sound of the turbo with the engine idling is reflecting off the gas station's metal canopy agitating others, it's a whistler. =) Had to muffle mine a bit, as I take my kids in it, but the whistle is still there.

    1 more m35 1 less m50

Rims look like cut HEMTTs with adapter plates. Nice rims - thick, and easy to change a tire on them by one's self.

    M76 Otter pics and information

DH - that's the same one =) It used to be Classic Chevrolet, but GM shut down them as a dealership I think. EDIT - ok, fine, if there is enough sunlight, I'll get some pix on the way home or tomorrow morning of the Otter, HMMWV and the armor he has in the showroom. Not sure what happened to...

    M76 Otter pics and information

I know what the HMMWV is worth - and it's all original too. The dead 6.2 diesel in it is no concern at all as they are relatively cheap, but could not find anyone who would sell it to me. Offered them $10k on the spot for it (a steal imo), but they didn't budge. Think I may just need to wait for...
