    2000 HMMWV M1123 Project

I actually towed it home on a deckover trailer... It was only about 40 miles. It doesn't even have working brakes, plus I have no idea the condition of the engine, trans, transfer case, hubs, etc. Since it will be my daily driver, I prefer to go through each individual system before even driving it.

    2000 HMMWV M1123 Project

New update: Well, it has been an absolute crazy 3 days of running around, with my head cut off. After having it surgically reattached, I can now continue to press on. In my other thread, I mentioned that I finished a trade deal for a slantback kit. It is intended to stay with my personal truck...

    *1990 M998A0 Refresh*

Alright... Small update for this truck, then I will continue with the other thread. Well, the trade deal is done. Although, I had an idea that I passed along and was hoping the seller might accept. Instead of trading my recently finished M998, I was able to trade my project 1994 M998A1 roller...

    *1990 M998A0 Refresh*

This might be the last set of updates for the M998. I'd appreciate any thoughts, as I keep mulling it all over in my head. First. I may have a trade offer for the 1990 M998. It will require that I put up some cash (~2k, but I will keep my wheels and 2 man top/doors kit, for a later build. The...

    2000 HMMWV M1123 Project

Since, it is early on a Sunday, here comes a follow up. Funny enough, when I sell my trucks, I enjoy being able to link someone to the thread. It gives them a chance to read over the entire journey. I guess these are moreso journals for me and being able to look back upon them usually makes me...

    2000 HMMWV M1123 Project

Okay... I've decide to create a thread for the M1123, mostly to keep the different project threads clean. This is an 11/99 (2000) M1123 that I found pretty much left for dead. The engine/transmission/transfer case were all about to be gutted and it just needed to be saved. When we were buying...

    *1990 M998A0 Refresh*

Update: 2/2/24. Alright... I wanted to give an update on my thread. First off, I have enjoyed my Humvee adventures so far and feel like I'd like to stay with the platform. Second, I have just put over 1000 miles on the M998 and the engine really feels good. I pretty much just feed it diesel and...

    *1990 M998A0 Refresh*

Mostly a fun update... I awoke this morning and saw some fresh snow. Decided that I would take it for a spin, but ended up on a little drive. Gotta be quite honest, the handling characteristics are a little interesting. Even before I went into the mountains, I had already gained some...

    *1990 M998A0 Refresh*

Okay... Update. I was going to start sourcing parts to fix it myself, but the ears have multiple fine hair line cracks and I've decided to take another route. A local builder, who has been awesome to me, sold me a good tested unit for not wildly much more than I could rebuild one for. So, I took...

    *1990 M998A0 Refresh*

Well, another day of fun. Yesterday, I got up early, went into work, so I could take out the alternator. The local shop had quoted me around $200(which is more than I have ever paid to repair any alternator), but I really wanted a sufficient charging system. Sadly, the local generator company...

    *1990 M998A0 Refresh*

Just a little to report these days... I am chasing the constant running fan situation at the moment. To be quite honest, the entire system will be gone through soon enough. But, it will take some troubleshooting time. I decided to remove the troop seats, for the moment. Unsure, if it will be a...

    *1990 M998A0 Refresh*

So... Fun update. I was working on the truck, put the former A pillar bracket for the soft top on. I wish it glided through a bit better, but it is just a top. They are easily replaceable, if it just sits on my brain forever. The little DOT turnbuckles arrived. Trying to decide whether to tap...

    *1990 M998A0 Refresh*

Well, after filling up the transmission again, the truck wanted to drive. I just took it down the street, to inspect the recent work. Over the next few weeks, I will do more, so I can feel better about longer distances. Much appreciated, to all for your patience. Sometimes, I can get ahead of...

    *1990 M998A0 Refresh*

Thanks, for the replies everyone. Yesterday wasn't really meant to be the day that it drove. I just figured that I would see if it wanted to go. That being said, there are plenty of things to verify before throwing my hands up in the air. The transmission shift linkage was already hooked up and...

    *1990 M998A0 Refresh*

No and no... To be quite honest, I have been fighting the sun each day for time. Me and time have this thing, but that is for another day. Now that I am home, relaxed, gathered, I want to prep for another day. You are correct, there are several things to go over, before I just take a break. I...

    *1990 M998A0 Refresh*

Today, wasn't the coolest... I got the transfer case up in the truck, along with the driveshafts. Filled the transfer case, all the hubs, the diffs, etc. At the end of the day, I was just curious if it would put around the parking lot. Sadly, I put it into drive and push the throttle and the...

    *1990 M998A0 Refresh*

It could be worse, I suppose... The good thing is, it is an A0. I never planned to put auxiliary electrics into the system, mostly to keep it as clean as possible. Hopefully, the local place that built my last alternator is still in business. They rebuilt my old Lotus alternator and did it in...

    *1990 M998A0 Refresh*

I wasn't going to make an update, but what the hell. So, today was pretty uneventful. I have been starting the truck everyday now, while using the block heater for about 1-2 hrs beforehand. The only thing that I've noticed in the hose from the thermostat, to the radiator had a tiny weep. I...

    *1990 M998A0 Refresh*

Well, some parts arrived, others did not. So, it turned out to be a pretty uneventful weekend. I did get the air intake set up on. Black was most cost effective for the cap, so that is what the truck got. Most of the transfer case parts have arrived, but I am still waiting on a few more things...

    *1990 M998A0 Refresh*

Another update... I got the transmission filter changed and also installed the engine block heater. I had to drop the crossmember, but only one side, while loosening and hanging the other side. Since the transfer case isn't in quite yet, it was pretty easy to just support underneath the torque...
