I have a1009 and put a 700R in i. Best thing I ever did to it,but I have 3.42 gears and 35’s. It really could use 3.73 with these tires. As others have said your truck won’t be in overdrive very much, but what everybody is missing is the lockup torque converte! This is a game changer itself. I...
Thanks CUCVRS for your tip about the 10 amp fuse at the bottom of the fuse panel! I have owned my blazer for about 10 years and the gen 1&2 lights nor the voltmeter ever worked. I read your tip the other day, and went out in the garage and looked and no fuse. Put one in and both lights and gauge...
No that’s not the brace I/ we are referring to. It’s in front of the rear tire, something only on blazers, not pickups. I am too computer illiterate to find a picture and post, but someone will.
Bingo! That added brace is what I look at first on any k5. If that is intact, chances are the rest of the truck(bodywise) should be good.(corrosionwise)
If your glows are working right, you should only need 15 seconds of holding the manual button and it should start. I wouldn’t hold it more than that and then start it. If it doesn’t start wait a minute and repeat.
I checked voltage not running,12.2 volts each, running 14.4 volts each. No gen lights or voltmeter? Could a previous owner modified something to bypass the lights and gauge? The passenger side alt doesn’t look like it has any insulators on the mounts and yes I have a 24 volt starter.
I have been reading this thread and it came to me that I don’t ever remember seeing my gen lights on! I went out and turned the key on and sure enough, no lights. I have had the blazer for about 10 years and the volt meter doesn’t work or the lights, but I know at least one alternator is...
I hope you have better luck than me. On my 1009 it started whining and I pulled the pan down, screen was clogged up with clutch/ friction particles. I put new screen and filter and got about 100 miles out of it then it quit.
Bought a rusted out 6.2 diesel suburban with a rebuilt 700r in it. Took everything out in one piece and put it in the 1009. Have the torque converter lockup running with a toggle switch. Years ago I put axles from another blazer in it that have 3.42 gears in them. I have much better "holeshot"...
