Welcome from Washington State!
That's a very nice truck. How you guys can maneuver those big truck around those narrow roads over there is impressive. I've driven around the U.K. a couple of times in little cars and felt squeezed for space. I can't imagine doing it big trucks.
That's a great...
Get the manuals (the ones on CD's are not as good as the original paper ones) and read them (at least look at all the pictures). It will help a lot.
Remember this real "old school" technology; simple, but very different.
Good Luck! They are fun trucks whether as garage toys or driving in the...
I know someone in the Redmond, WA area who has 2 (and maybe getting one more) that wants to reduce his inventory to just 1.
PM me and I'll give you his contact information.
I have a couple of sets of take off USMC rear lifting / tie down brackets if anyone is interested. They do not have the shackles with them. Just the brackets you attach to the truck. You'll have find your own shackles, if interested.
Just PM me if interested.
They were mounted on the LTMV on the sides toward the rear. I saw a picture of them once, but I don't remember where I saw it. They may also be used on the V-100's. I didn't pay much attention to the vehicles; I just wanted the racks.
I bought from someone on this site about 2 to 3 years ago...
They will be mounted on the tail gate of both the truck and trailer. One of the nice things about them (besides being aluminum) is that they fold flat when not in use.
I'll try to get a couple of photos this weekend. You need to remember though, that I'm in the middle of modifying them (I want...
I've got a couple of gypsy racks off of a LTMV. They are great, but will take some modification to fit on my M-42 and the M101A1 trailer.
I like the fact that they are aluminum.
Good Luck with your project! Having a donor truck really helps; it give you trading stock, too.
I really like the little round mirrors under the rectangle mirrors.
You might try talking to Charles Talbert at M-Series Rebuild. Charles is a wealth of information and has all the parts you need (I believe) to feed your fantasies.
Good Luck with your project. The M-37 is a great little truck.
What was the "accessory" attached to the cargo bed on the left side behind the cab? It looked like a pump or generator and was painted to match the truck.
That is a very nice truck to start with by the way. I never saw one that nice, even when I was in the Army ('68-'71) and they were still...
Karl, there is also a different front and back cover that are part of the Command Truck kit. The standard cargo cover goes over those windowed side curtains.
I have pictures of my truck with the Command Truck kit installed if you are interested.
Good Luck with your new truck, and have fun!
Charles at M-Series Rebuild is very knowledgeable.
I think he knows where and when every bit of ore was mined that went into any steel on a M-series vehicle (and probably the name of the miners and all their personal history).
I'd give him a call.
There is one old video of A/N GRC-46 Teletype Radio Shelter in the cargo bed of an M-37, but it is all about the teletype operation. As far as the M-37's role in the video, it just shows it driving up and driving away; still kind of cool to see.
It was posted in a thread on this site a while...
Please post the video if you discover any of them.
I also got a smile out of the fact that you are a 10th Mountain Division veteran and you now live in a state that is totally at sea level without so much as a bump on the surface.
I designed the switch bracket and had a local sheet metal shop bend it up. The switches came from either Saturn, Eastern or TJN Murray surplus (I don't remember which one). The indicator lights came from Digi-Key and the little curved guards came from a guy on Ebay (they were about $1.50 each -...
