The bed stakes form the backrest for the seats. There are military pads for both the seats and the backrests. The vets might appreciate the backrests; but riding (anywhere) is always better than walking. I learned that last bit in the Army.

The problem I have is the truck receptacle. I need to disassemble some parts and do some grinding / machining so the receptacle door will open fully. Thank you for the offer though!

Just tag-and-bag and take lots of pictures as you disassemble. Then, read the manuals at night while all the parts are getting cleaned, rebuilt, overhauled, etc. When it's time to put it all back together, use the photos and the manuals and it is pretty easy. These trucks are just not that...
