Great job repairing that truck! It will be like new when you're done.
Always makes me glad to see these trucks brought back to life (or to "good health").

Peter, there are LOTS of things I still have to do. I've got a 3 or 4 page list of stuff. The basic truck is done, but the radios have to be installed along with the MRE Heater (combat crockpot), the blood cooler (refrigerator) and various accessories and lights. To install the radios and other...
The company that made these gantries is still in business. You could probably get whatever you needed from them (including parts and drawings).
Their website is: http://www.wallacecranes.com/prods.htm
I would be great if you could post a copy of the manual.

Check the block serial number. It should start with T245 if it is a military engine.
If it is a military engine and you are interested in rebuilding that engine correctly, I would spend some time talking to two people.
First, I would call Charles Talbert at M-Series Rebuild. Next, I would talk...
I used one as an interior cab light on my M-37. I works great. I've got a couple more for the bed of my truck and one for my trailer. Mine are all blue black out lenses. I'd really like to find red ones, even just the little red lenses to replace the blue ones.
The search continues.....
BTW...
Here's the photos of the control boxes I have at the house. I have others in the storage unit (it may take me awhile to find those).
PM me if this is the type you are looking for. They are from the SW 978 series of fuel fired heaters.
That is a beautifully restored truck. I hope you enjoy driving it and I'm sure that people will enjoy seeing it at shows.
I've had my M-37 / M-42 for about 35 years now and restored it twice. I have all the earlier "Boat Anchor" radio systems for the truck (A/N GRC-3, -5, -7) and a few others...
One thing I forgot to mention: be sure to check the flat area under the the headlights on the front fenders. That area often rusts out and currently finding "patch panels" can be difficult.
Sorry I forgot to mention it earlier.
Good Luck with your truck hunting!
That is a very nicely restored truck! He did a great job on the truck and radios.
Do all the radios work? If you have a HAM license you can actually use them (some channels, anyway).
Did the Marine Corps have the Command Truck variation? I thought that was an Army only kit.
BTW, there are...
Just a few things I noticed looking at your pictures.
The engine looks pretty complete and largely unmolested. The original fuel filter is missing.
The bed has been stripped of lots of its components (seats, side racks, tool box doors, spare tire carrier (maybe on this item), bed bow storage...
Do you guys only play with the newer heaters? And how do you define "new"?
Does anyone know about or have experience with the old SW 978 series heaters? Or maybe even a few parts?

I used TM9 paint on my truck and trailer (24087), and I'm very happy with it. I used the catalyzed urethane and it is extremely tough paint. I'm so happy with it I keep buying it to paint all my accessories. I think it is great stuff.
Here is a website with the history and "Order of Battle" which lists all subordinate and attached units from 1965 to 1971 while the 1st Cav was in Viet Nam. From this list you should be able to find a unit to assign your jeep to.

Thanks, this is what I wanted to know. The Riggers' Lights have a high and low beam. I don't want to blind anybody so I will only use them off the roadways. Once I get the installation complete I'll post some pictures with the wiring diagram. The mounting brackets are getting fabricated now. I...
