With all the replies telling people to use the search function, believe me, search was the first thing I did. Most of the posts are from years ago, and like I posted, those stock numbers are no longer valid. I think there is something in the new members section that tells people to search for...
I just adjusted the air pressure regulator according to the TM yesterday. TM 9-2320-209-20-3-2, paragraph 13-36 gives you step by step directions, and says normal pressure is 100-105 psig. Hope this helps.

Hi Ryan, glad to see another person in Hampton Roads joining up. I'm waiting on my paperwork to get my plates for my deuce. If you have any questions, this is the place to get them answered. Hope to see you at some local events (when they occur). Keep looking, there are quite a few MV'ers on...
My question is why would you change from DOT 5 to DOT 4? DOT 5 is what the government uses in its vehicles. I'll be honest and say I'm not sure what the difference is, except for DOT 5's resistance to moisture absorption, which is greater than DOT 3. With the possible gelling of the mixture...
I've been looking for the NAPA part numbers, but they are no longer the same. I had hoped someone might have the new numbers. I guess I'll go with the SS kit.
When are you picking up your M1009? The best way to get in is through the back gate. Take the Strathmore road exit off of Chippenham Pkwy and follow the signs. There will be a pass office where you will get your vehicle pass (license, registration, proof of insurance) and they will call the...
Thanks for all the replies and the votes. I have already replace one piece of broken brake line and inspected the rest. Wheel cylinder rebuilds along with axle seal replacements are next in line, and I'm going to try to track down the right size braided hoses to replace the rubber one already...
Just a picture of Tony from my recent pickup in Richmond. Although some people might have had problems with him, he was nice to me the couple of times we talked and met.
Welcome to SteelSoldiers. Where are you picking your M35A2 up from? I just picked mine up from Richmond and got it home to Hampton, VA.
Former navy here, nuke submariner, good luck with your flight training.
I'd like more info on the hoses as well. As far as lining up the u-joints, the drive shaft parts can only line up one way, as there is a WIDE spline on the drive shaft.
Put the drive shaft back together, bled the brakes and took the deuce for a spin (okay, just up and down the driveway) and...
Speddmon, rest easy. The brake line has already been replaced. 51" length of steel brake line from Advance, double flared, fittings already attached, for about $6.00.
Went and picked up some fittings to make hooking up the pressure bleeder that just arrived to the master cylinder cap, so I...
I sent a question to the Virginia DMV on their website with the following question. "I am purchasing a surplus military vehicle from the US government soon. I will receive a SF-97 form after purchasing the truck. The truck has never been titled before. What do I need to do to register this...
M-35tom, you are the man. Stopped by Craft Machine Shop in Newport News, gave the guy behind the desk the seal, and in 3 minutes the kid in the back brought out the new one. He asked whether the rubber piece was solid or splined, I told him it was too tore up to see, but the shaft was splined...
I had already removed one bolt when the pic was taken. I have all four when I go back to putting it together. You get points for attention to detail, however.
I may put it back together without the seal, but will put a piece of hose clamped around both shafts to keep contaminants out. I don't...
The deuce had a broken torque rod when I picked it up. That let the axle move enough to separate the drive shaft, but not enough for the springs to fall out. Thanks to Warthogs advice, I had the torque rod replaced in < 2 hours, with no jacking of the vehicle required. The pic below shows the...
Can anyone give me some information about the seal on the drive shaft between the front rear and rear rear differential. My rear axle shifted enough for the drive shaft to separate and ruin the seal at the splined joint. What is this seal called, and could someone point me in the right direction...
I'm gettting ready to replace some brake lines on my deuce and was wondering what the most common brake failure mechanisms were. Wheel cylinder leaks, hose ruptures, air pack/master cylinder issue, or something else entirely. I'm contemplating installing 1/4" quick throw swagelock valves in...
Got my deuce fired up this morning, within 15 minutes of going outside. Cycled on/off switch, start button while taking continuity readings, no issues. Hooked up batteries, heard the low air buzzer, turned master switch off, finished hooking up batteries. Checked for hydrostatic lock (thanks...
