    Amateur Radio

I had an Icom 706MkIIG installed in my p/u truck feeding a stainless steel whip antenna through the AH-4 autotuner. Love the ability to jump around the different bands, had a nice QSO with a guy in Australia while parked in Huntington Park in Newport News, VA. I think that was my longest...

    Axel seals & pinion seal

I've looked into doing all my seals and came across this. 2.5 TON AXLE SEAL KIT M35 M35A2 DEUCE ROCKWELL AXLE Parts - DragTimes.com This seems like a decent price to get seals for all six hubs. What do the rest of you think? I've also seen someone advertising seal kits for $99/axle...

    Commercial Deuce purchase..

I've never bought a vehicle from Clark Truck Parts, but did get my torque rod and flame heater injector from there. $125 for the dogbone (new) with ball joints and $45 for the flame heater injector. Nice guys on the phone and shipping was very fast.

DMV/ City of Viirginia Beach classification of M35a2

Since the ICC was abolished years ago, most of its duties and responsibilities have been taken over by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. Here is their definition of a commercial motor vehicle. Commercial motor vehicle (CMV) means a motor vehicle or combination of motor...

DMV/ City of Viirginia Beach classification of M35a2

I would point out that the DMV issued you antique plates, not commercial plates that would be required if you were using the truck for commercial purposes. I'll be following this thread as I live in Hampton, just up the road from you. In the meantime, I'll check out the definition of...

seat belt and turn signal required in '51 M37?

I picked up 2 pair of seat belts on E-pay. The seatbelts I replaced had the retractable reel, my replacements are just like airline belts. $5/set, and I used the old belts to have the male side lengthened to make up for the missing retractable reel (and my girth). I also had to get new 3/8"...

Is a Deuce a redneck truck?

To paraphrase Jeff Foxworthy: If you've ever said "hold my beer while I drain my air tanks" you might be a redneck. :D

    East Coast Convoy/Aberdeen

I noticed the routes listed are from 2008. Is anybody from the Tidewater area going on the ECC, and will we still be leaving from the Outback Restaurant on Portsmouth Blvd in Chesapeake? If so, what time? Thanks. Dave

    Radioactive Deuce?

The radiation is from the gage faces. There was a hold on deuces late last year because of this. Here's a link. http://www.steelsoldiers.com/deuce/17489-low-level-radiation-deuces.html radioactive paint was used on clock faces and wrist watches, basically anything people wanted to glow in...

    I need spots at Aberdeen

Are people allowed to camp out in their vehicles in the parking lot? I understand a lot of SteelSoldiers gather in one spot for the weekend, where is this normally? This will be my first MV rally, I'm certainly looking forward to it, and will be driving the deuce up from Hampton, VA.

    AJP shipping rate seems high

So I'm looking for a paint source, I've decided to go with the Gillespie 24087 for my 1966 M35A2. AJP has paint for $30.00 per gallon, but charges almost $40.00 per gallon to ship it. $280 for 4 gallons of paint/primer seems outrageous. These prices are right off their website...

    East Coast Convoy/Aberdeen

Just registered. This will be the first long trip I've taken in the deuce. To the guys who have done this before, about how much time does it take to get to Aberdeen from Hampton, VA traveling convoy style?

    Had a interesting visitor

Whenever I come across a veteran who used to drive deuces, I always ask them if they have any tips for a new driver. One gentleman said they used to bury the speedometer when they drove theirs in Vietnam. . Another said he was stationed at Ft. Bragg for two years and drove deuces a lot. One...

    M35 prepping for paint

I'm getting my deuce ready for painting. I'm using an angle grinder with either a knotted wire wheel to take off any rust, and a angled 36 grit sanding pad to remove excess paint down to either bare metal or primer. Since I'm not painting it immediately (I can only get a few hours here and there...

    deuce tire questions

If you haven't driven it yet, I would do a brake inspection (lines, hoses, fill/bleed system). Get the truck legal to drive on the road prior to making changes to it. Why spend money on new tires/wheel when your lights/horn/brakes don't work? Even though I have antique tags on my deuce, I try...
