I feel you there. My M1090 sat for 5 years. Only had 50 miles since the service on fuel and oil since I got it at auction. I changed it out due to the investment in the truck. But have had cars that have sat for 20 yrs and ran the oil. It looked good, ran fine.
That's a lot of oil changes for an engine with such a large capacity. Maybe the first two changes in a 3-5k interval to draw out as much contaminates as possible. Then you would be about as fresh, other than rebuild. I've had engines with synthetic that our louder. If I'm running synthetic in an...
Very cool. Appreciate it. When (if it gets the green light) I get mine on I'll get some info on the forums for all. I'll get the overall height and see what cruise/rpm change it is.
Im going to search the TM's to see how the air routes through the axle, hub and to the rim tire.
Learning more...
I had to read it twice. Thought I read that the HMMWV was full tomatoes. 😂
I've typically prepped with scotchbrite, or the 3M pads from Home Depot.
If it's shinny, might need a start with sandpaper. Maybe 180 grit and the etched primer usually fills sandmarks fairly well.
Im still getting up to speed on this stuff. I noticed both on mine but hadn't dove into it yet.
The line that goes to the fan I belive is air supply for the power divider in the top of the center differential?
Could that other line be the supply for the CTIS? I thought the air traveled...
I like the idea of getting that spacing with a rim and back spacing, rather than a spacer. Especially that size on a larger rig.
Im curious, of stud length and lugnut style required.
And CTIS hardware.
It doesn't sound like it's far off from being done.
By rub, do you mean, due to the diameter with the 16s? Or on turning, which is what I believe would be avoided with the HEMTT wheels with less back spacing.
Others with FMTV wheels and 16s have spoke of making wheel spacers, although I believe they just run them with rubbing.
Trying to gauge...
HEMTT WHEELS. Bringing this back up to see if anyone has experience with it.
I recently purchased some Goodyear AT-3A 16R20.
I read lots of posts for rim use on the other trucks and didn't see much for comments for use on FMTV'S
Most common looks like, stud length, rim centering style, lug...
Easy way to see what the true weight is, make a run to the dump. With a full tank, and co-pilot we came in at 24,500lbs with the M1090 empty.
Hauled 9tons (est.) of logs the other day. Probably the heaviest load it will see during the time I have it.
60 psi tires, truck felt great loaded.
Looked through and did a web search and didn't find anything. My biggest issue is I haven't served, so I'm not familiar with the nomenclature, or units.
Im curious if anyone can help me get an idea of who, what and where the rig has been etc.
I saw a post that someone mentioned you could fill...
Im thinking these are two plugs for different applications. Cab plug is for a light ( do all the trucks have the cab plug?) mine has the switch on the dash for the strobe.
Seems that most of the equipment that would be added to the truck is setup fairly plug and play. Mount the Chem box and...

Things are coming along nicely.
Here is a Pic of the connections I am curious about.
From my reading, the one by the air box was for the radio/chemical detection
The one on the cab?
Perfect thank you. Saw the pins after the fact. Release Both I suppose.? Didn't catch that too begin with. Wondering about repurposing it for down riggers for leveling? Might need to just tie it straight into the hydraulic curciut with the pto.
I'd like to find a controller, but looks like...
