2 transfer cases as a double range tranny...question...

Doubler transfer cases are generally there to get LOWER, not higher, gearing. The Gear Vendors or Ranger Overdrive units would be more what you're looking for, or an overdrive trans, like an NV4500. Or both, depending on tire size. Try www.coloradok5.com

is there a glow plugs for these truck that does not swell?

As an addendum to my previous post, since the Wellmans that I had only slightly swelled, it was more a benefit than a negative. I could easily distinguish which were bad and which I could retain for spares- although I did check the resistances to verify that the good ones were still good, I knew...

Any auto parts store. It's a standard K30 part.

is there a glow plugs for these truck that does not swell?

When I removed my Wellmans, they were swollen, but not that bad, they pulled right out. It was more "bubbled slightly" than swollen.

    cucv 1008 np208 to np205 swap

The 205's low range isn't ideal, but it's a stronger, gear-drive case rather than the 208 chain drive case. The 208 is strong enough for most applications, but if he's planning a 350 with a lot of power, in extreme situations, you could outrun the capability of the 208.

    cucv 1008 np208 to np205 swap

I'm pretty sure it's a 32 spline as well, but I'm not going to swear to it. My buddy swapped a 205 into his truck and it was a direct swap. There are a few versions of the 205, I'd make sure that I got one with a PTO- even if you're not planning to use it immediately, it couldn't hurt to have it.

question on a 6.2 chevy suburban

That's the point of cranking it over several times by hand with the oil in there. It clears out the rust when an engine is improperly stored for any length of time (proper storage would include fogging oil to prevent this in the first place). If you just crank up the truck, the rust will knock...

question on a 6.2 chevy suburban

Meh, a little oil in each cylinder combined with a good breaker bar to turn the engine over by hand would take care of that OK.

    38x14.5x16

And the bigger tires add some meaningful amount of ground clearance. Sorry to say, but with the stock 32s, the ground clearance SUCKS.

    38x14.5x16

I'm running 35x12.50s with only minor trimming. That said, if they were narrower, I'd be a bit better off. 14.5 is going to be really freakin' wide, and is going to create more problems. Scottc, I can't imagine why you needed a 4" lift for 32s, since the stock tires are about 32". I mean, I...

    Cold starting a diesel engine

WD40 works well as a starting fluid because it helps provide lubrication. Ether works just as well though. What type of starting fluid you use isn't really relevant, it's the automatic glow plugs that are the issue. Starting fluid hitting a hot glow plug will explode, regardless of piston...

Got stuck with commercial plates in ny, whats the weight of an 08?

He said that 5500 is the NY limit, so we're talking about getting 400 pounds out of the truck. That's not a trivial amount. I'm just shocked that they do the "commercial" limit by curb weight and not GVWR. That's just asinine. Especially when it's a personal vehicle not for commercial usage.

Got stuck with commercial plates in ny, whats the weight of an 08?

The truck weighs in around 5900 pounds, give or take. I generally call it 6000, because by the time you put a driver in it, it will be over 6000. Don't know where you're getting "5200 sounds good" from- I mean, it sounds good, but so does 4500 or any other number that's pulled out of thin air...

Got stuck with commercial plates in ny, whats the weight of an 08?

Assuming that he means "M1008" by "08" in the title, none of those things exist. He could take off the bed and spare, though. But anyway, the GVWR and curb weight would be found in the specs either on the transport plate or, as far as the DMV is concerned, on some table somewhere that has...

    Spare tire on front

It's pretty common practice for new vehicles now, whether they have different front/rear sizes or not, especially for sports cars, where weight is a consideration. In other vehicles, cost has more to do with it.

    Spare tire on front

Yeah, for a roadgoing vehicle, a spare tire is pretty much unnecessary. I removed the spare in the Miata years ago for extra trunk space, compressor and plug kit are more than sufficient. Then again, in a truck with more than enough space for a spare, it seems silly to not carry one, especially...

question on a 6.2 chevy suburban

Honestly, for most purposes, the a gasser is a better engine choice. The diesel is a sorta fuel-efficient/economical choice that makes okay power, or it would be if diesel wasn't so blasted pricey, but it comes with all the drawbacks of an old, non-turbo diesel. Gassers typically have cheaper...

question on a 6.2 chevy suburban

It's possible, at least in theory, for the diesel fuel to break down over time, just as gasoline, motor oil, and about every other petroleum distillate will do with exposure to oxygen and time. I wouldn't worry about the whole "drain the tank and blah blah blah" crappola, though. I mean, the...

question on a 6.2 chevy suburban

Right, so you assume that it's FUBAR'D and make your offer as if it had no engine. That's standard procedure for the "it won't start" bit. You assume the worst.
