what a deal! i should have known it was you or someone from ss bidding against me. if i wouldnt have just gotton back from tfs in lufkin i might have given you a run for that truck. good luck with it! thanks, mark. the last back glass i bought was 100 new. ive been buying econo's from...
thanks for the heads up, i knew it had been titled , dont know which vfd had it yet. i have thought about getting a duplicate but i doubt they would sign a lost title affa davit since it was govt owned. bonded is another way, have done it many times, but it cost me about 200 to do it. still...
you know how to check individual glow plugs? pull the wire off the plug, take a test light and put the clip end on the positive battery post, touch the tip of each plug and if it lights, you might have a good plug. if you can find 4 or 5 good plugs , jump the relay on the firewall for 5 seconds...
the vin can help you tell a 1028. if it has a 208 tcase and the 4th digit is an H its a 1028. 1008 have 2900 lbs payload and a G in the 4th digit of the vin. if you can see the data plate you'll see the 3600 lbs payload. dont trust the drivers door. many have been changed. look for the extra...

it looks like gsa has some flexibility when issuing a form 97 title. my contracting officer said he is reviewing all lots from the tfs sale and will make changes based on several factors. ill bet people are calling. we will see what happens. thanks for all the advice!!
i didnt take it personally. but i have sold a fair amount of these trucks. i know what they are worth. i have lots of spare parts. i used to get these trucks from a neighbor who built extreme 4x4's when the dana 60's were hot. he would buy the trucks, take the axels and almost give me the rest...
i had to stay up past my bedtime to get it. thanks for letting me have it. next sale is next year according to brian at tfs. getting harder to get. this truck and the truck in my profile picture wich i got last year were exceptional.
the biggest problem so far with this truck has been the...

military trucks, especially cucv's, both trucks and blazers, hold there value exceptionally well. the last m1028 i had with 30k miles brought well over 3k. there civilian counterparts dont even come close. where i live in texas a good title is very important, especially to out of state...
i tried once before talking to them when no title was issued, had to go the bonded route. hopefully a salvage title is better than no title. on the recovery i have found the sooner you get it out of there the less likely stuff will disappear. mine still had a good glow plug card , can you...
here is my latest purchase from tfs through gsa. 86 m1028 with 20k miles. truck was complete including battery hold downs, spare tire and wheel with carrier, horn button, lug wrench(no jack), two d-rings. only thing missing was rear bumper . it was a shelter carrier, probably didnt have a...
i would not pull both heads, im sure its just one. the way to tell is pull the intake off, lower the coolant level to just below the water jacket in the heads. fire the truck up and watch to see what side the bubbles come from. you might even see combustion coming from the cylinder if the crack...
it was close enough for me to preview, they had quit driving it because the a/c was out of freon, and it was hard to start cold.
i charged the batteries, changed out the fuel cartridge base, as fuel was draining back to tank overnight. runs and drives great. ill fix the a/c later.
as you...
i think you have a blown head gasket or cracked head. they make a test for that now. if you drove 150 miles must not be too bad. i hate that they didnt have a temp gage.
i have left the radiator cap cracked open to relieve pressure when i had to get home . if your in a pinch turn on the...
gm had problems with pumps in 84-85 model years. the material they used would come apart inside and clog up the return line killing the engine.
i discovered all the things you are going through on the side of the road 500 miles from home. what i found was if that one minute your truck is...
