if you can remove the return line fitting with the checkball intact and start the truck then your flex ring is coming apart , building pressure in the housing. you can gut the return fitting of the checkball, allowing pressure relief, but you will evntually need a pump.
its a typical boneyard setting in the middle of the piny woods. i had a conversation with brian aldredge, complaining about parts being in the picture and then being gone when you go to pick up. my d-rings were in the picture but were gone when i arrived to retrieve mine. he gladely replaced...
i am 200 miles from the lufkin site so i doesnt pay to go inspect them early. gut shooting worked this time. i am going to put this back on the road, can you do that with the big trucks like the 10 ton's. ? thanks. mark
here is a m1028 that i just picked up from the texas forest service in lufkin,tx. their description usually includes no keys, parts missing etc, etc. and a picture of the front of the truck. i was surprised to find when i went to pick the truck up that it was complete . the lock cylinder had been...
ive flat towed lots of cucv's. i dont pull the drive shaft, i do tie or lock the steering wheel after your pointed straight. i do make sure the t-case is full of fluid. i do make sure the tires are aired up and the best one are on the front of the towed vehicle.
if you have a blow out on the...
vehicles over 10 model years old are exempt from milage disclosure at title transfer. currently 2001 are exempt. problem solved. if you dont want to repair the unit yourself just do what the military does, replace it with a new one!!thanks. mark
if you have an interstate battery store close you can get used "econo" batteries from them. here in austin,tx optima econo's were selling at 50 bucks with a 3 month warranty if there is a problem. ive had pretty good luck with them.
thanks guys , good to see you both. good luck with the new ride sam!! let me know how you decide to handle the plates. thanks. see you later. mark
i guess its time to find a new picture!
i think the odometer has been changed since its an 84. that head was not available until mid 86. you can see the difference in the size of the numbers on the odometer wheel. thanks. mark
thats a replacement speedometer head from gm parts. the original must have quit or it was in for major maintanence and they changed the head at that time. cucv's were born with a 5 digit odometer. thanks. mark
these trucks were from the border patrol. probably not a bad deal for someone closer. im in texas and still 600 miles away. with 2 loaded at a time and 3.55 diesel thats still an expensive trip. i bought 3 trucks from them in marfa,tx. the last time they sold any. the one i have left is my...
here is the slab weight that was mounted behind the cab. i used my neighbors forklift rated at 14k to remove it. when i put the chain around both forks tied together they bent them over to the point i thought they would break. very scary.
just fyi, these trucks came from the factory with a 5 digit odometer. some of the replacements had the newer 6 digit(million mile) . what really chaps me is when i see an ebay seller with a replacement speedometer reading 13k miles telling folks that's original milage!! you bet!! thanks...
here is one i bought back in 04. i went from austin to central nm to pick it up. with my equipment trailer rated at 12k i still blew 6 tires before i got home. missing the front bumper this thing must weigh about 9k. i removed the solid weight behind the cab and still have it. i think its full...
