Man everything looks tastefully done . . . I haven't had a chance yet to read your entire thread but where did you get that snorkle? I love the custom welding protecting it!!! I'm gonna have to steal this idea...

Very Dim Gen2 light on idle

I would bet its your regulator inside the alternator . . . I just had a similar problem with my Gen 1 light barely coming on then going out then coming back on. My dad took it to his buddy's shop, replaced the regulator and problem solved. I suggest taking to an alternator specialist shop, who...

    When to lock front hubs

I have had my hubs locked before taking off on a drive but the last time I did, it was making a knocking sound every once in a while during a turn. Any idea why this would happen? I've driven with my hubs locked before and no problems...I haven't tried it again, but maybe I should. Any...

    Newbie! Need some advice.

Welcome to the forum, I would also recommend downloading the TM's . . . make yourself as familiar as possible with the engine, hoses and electrical. The more you know the better prepared you are when it breaks. I would suggest carrying electrical cleaner, fuses and all the fluids for back up...

    6.2 ticking noise?

I just fixed this problem on my m1008, it was a loose bolt for the power steering pump. Also had to tighten the bolts for the flywheel, remember there are three hiding back there, unfortunately I only have two back there tightened up until the pump goes out. Good luck

starter won't engage when gp's connected

It sounds like everyone is loosing battery power everytime they prime their fuel filters. Wouldn't it be wise to prime filters, charge batteries and then try to start truck? Luckily I haven't had to do this yet but by all the stories people are posting, it's not going to be fun

fuel leak at throttle shaft..... seal kit?

I'm in the same boat, have a leak that looks to be coming down the to the fuel pump. Can't figure out where its leaking from but truck still runs good with mpg's around 16-17

    M1009 Cold Starting Tips

I've read the back of the visor to follow the starting tips when the engine is cold. I would say that this is not the best way for me to start my truck when its cold. Letting it crank for up to 15 seconds burns the starter, so I've been told by mechanics to . . . 1. Turn key to run position...

    Rim and tire set up

Hey True Knight, did you have to put on longer brake lines with the 4" lift? I've noticed a lot of kits don't have them included. Nice job on cutting the fenders by the way, hope mine turns out that good.

    Rim and tire set up

I think Matt65 has it right . . . I'm going for same set up b/c not to much other than lift and tires are needed to fit 37x12.50's(well maybe some fender trimming for me). Then I can slowly upgrade everything else as I begin to off road harder.

    just bought '86 m1008

Thats actually my neck of the woods...what size lift are you putting on? I'm going to get a set of 16.5" rims and put 37" old hummer tires on them with a 4" lift. I know I will end up cutting some of the fenders too. I want to keep the center of gravity low and still be able to handle some...
