Understood. I did eat a LOT of leaves for breakfast in my 5 ton when I took it through the new property the day after buying it last fall. It had no roof...
I ended up backing out of a trail about halfway down because I had a 5-6 inch tree on either side, each about to smash a mirror...
I'm so glad you feel that way. And I don't consider my 'rank' here to be worth anything nor does it change a single thing about the fact that cutting trees is not permitted at RC. I have been there around a dozen times including several times when I drove down with my own tools, food, and...
my apologies, I did not realize that breaking the park's rules, damaging their property, and risking getting kicked out was how this was run. No, I'm not the tree police, but I don't do to others property what I wouldn't want done to my own.
As for dust, I doubt that will be much of an issue...
Good luck! FYI, enceyption is not permitted on ham radio. All transmissions must be in a language that can be understood by those other than your intended recipient.
I'm considering just using common 10-lug over the road hauler rims because I found I can get them for 50 bucks apiece. I'm not sure backspacing will be right though, I need to take some measurements and do some drawing. I'm definitely going tubeless, I hate messing around with tubes and lock...
I bought a set of top end gaskets including the new style head gaskets on here... think it was from pigfoot63 but not sure. Whoever it was, thanks! Going to have the heads resurfaced and the valves ground while the heads are off this time, also cleaning up the threads on the studs and nuts...
My route does take me down 84 and 81 but I won't be heading down till late Friday probably, and I won't be in a vehicle that can tow you. I will be bringing a decent tool collection and know my way around a deuce/5ton decently well at this point though if you end up needing help.
Curious.
How much would it cost to ship engine, trans, and/or transfer case to 01550? And how much would you want for that pile of parts?
My 5 ton could use a spare motor and trans, and I'd like to pull apart a transfer case and see if I can't design an airshift mod for it, then swap out and...
Wish I had the cash or time to make a trip, I think a trip to georgia to drive it home would be nearly as fun as the one to southwest PA I told you about... and I could save shipping on those tires rofl
It appears the seller is not familiar with common English punctuation.
Those lift stilts appear to be welded to the axle housing... as long as you trust his welding, it should be fine, though it will obviously wear the springs out prematurely.
The park has some of everything. Easy access roads all the way up through rather difficult rock gardens. I have only been there once with the 5-ton and took it down some rather narrow trails, had to back out of one when I nearly took both my mirrors off on trees at the same time.
Depending on how my repairs go I will be either driving my 91 MJ or my M54A2. Should arrive either very late Thursday or very late Friday... leaving Sunday.
I don't care for the hummer but it's your money
Nice 818!
People always ask me if my 5 ton is compensating for something. I generally tell them it's more of a complement than compensation... and that it cost less than the down payment on their truck!
