My 1009 doesn't like the added power draw from the blower until the engine has warmed up/high idle kicks down. When I try to run the heater before it's warm, it pulls the voltmeter down. Once it's warm- no problems. Seems fairly typical, but that doesn't mean there isn't a problem somewhere...
So, having tracked down a leak to the throttle shaft seals on the the injector pump, and having acquired the parts and a quick lesson from the guy at the Stanadyne shop, I undertook a fairly ambitious repair for a relative newb. Here's the story:
-Removed the air cleaner (1 minute)
-Removed...
NAPA, LMCTruck, OD Iron, flmv.net
Also, in my experience O'Reilly can get OEM parts for significantly less than the GM stealerships or the other chain stores. (Helps too that the local clerk's husband has an M1008, so she knows a bit more than most)
Keep on eye on the SS classifieds...
First off let me be the first to say:

Congrats and welcome!
Nearly all the information you need will be found in the TMs. Go to the main forum page, at the bottom is the WIKI. Go to the section for CUCVs and you can download them as .pdf files. The Lube Order covers your basic...
The name of the shop is Northeast Diesel Service. NE Diesel
I went to the guy in Blue Springs, MO. He actually pulled out a 6.2 IP he was working on and gave me a step-by-step on how to change the o-rings on the throttle shaft, then came out to take a look at the truck. Said the IP looks...
Ah- ya beat me to it! Here's a pic from the article. We had the regular MRAPs in Iraq and they were huge. Pretty comfortable seating, too. Of course, this was necessary as the suspension was pretty brutal. Supposedly the new "baby" has independent suspension and much better off-road...
Alright- I think we're gonna solve this problem! Because the leak is coming off the high side, dripping from the throttle shaft (I believe), I'm 90% sure it's the o-rings. Found a Stanadyne repair shop locally (using Stanadyne's search feature)- he's a good ol' boy. He has the o-rings for...
Ranchhopper- I may need that! We'll see what I figure out- it may be an o-ring or loose connection (I hope). Otherwise, I'll send you a PM in the next couple days. Thanks!
Think I tracked it down- (I really hope this time!). I actually "caught it red-handed"- saw where it was dripping from- may not be the source of the leak- was hard to tell without completely removing the intake manifold. Here's a picture showing where the drip was (someone care to point out...
Okay- so more about the throttle shaft o-rings:
Where on the IP are they? I searched the TMs and couldn't find anything on them.
I was planning on changing the vacuum lines today anyway, so I guess I'm just going to have to dig in a little deeper. It looks the rubber lines at the...
I got if from GL almost 2 months ago. Just been driving it on base mostly, but a few trips out on the highway. Has done really well. Then the end of last week I noticed the leak. The weather has been doing funky things though- lots of extreme temp changes (e.g. 70+ one week, 30 the next)...
Alright, so I checked again today and it is definitely the IP that is leaking. I came out of work to go home for lunch and there's a good amount leaking. Took off the air cleaner and there's diesel pooled on top of the engine block all around the IP. So now what?
Do I have to...
I'm pretty devout. I am enraged when businesses display a little christian fish and then try to rip you off.
On the other hand my mechanic for the last 10 years (before I moved) does his work for others as a "gift". Call any place in town for a quote and he does it for half the price and gets...
Where did you find the pretty blue M1009? Is that your work?
Shouldn't be surprised at the lifts, though. The TM lists the curb weight for the 09 as 5200lbs with an added payload capacity of 1200lbs for a GVWR of 6400lbs. Pushing the limit, but still good, of course.
I was holding out...
only slightly related::stir pot:
Every time I go to O'Reilly I stand at the Optima display and lust over the $160 red tops. Then I come home and click on the OD Iron link and lust after the adapter trays.
I'm trying to convince the wife I need to spend $300/month on the M1009 since I...
