Yes, I see the envelope to go to the "conversation".
Got the info on testing the VR - here is what I tested:
Step 1 on the test - Disconnect wire from 1/A1 - test from term 1 to 10 3500ohms, same from 1 to 11 - so this is a fail. Right?
Step 2 - disconnect wire from term 12 - I get nothing...
Guyfang - I got an email saying that you responded when I checked my mail this morning - but when I open the thread it is not there. Still.
I opened a conversation with you yesterday but have not been able to figure out how to get back to anything called a conversation. I think I must be...

I found wire to Freq select sw on terminal 3 disconnected (looked like is came loose). Went ahead and put it back on. And re installed droop CT. Same results.
Potential transformer gets very hot when I flashed with the start switch for about 5 seconds - hot enough to start smelling...
For the record I am a baby in the generator world compared to some of you. My life has made me a "jack of all trades" to an extreme level. And it continues that way. One day I am working on a farm tractor, the next a man lift, then a genset, and might even throw in a dozer or even a truck...
A few things:
I just read another post with Mcii explaining a lot about himself so that question is answered and I now have his phone and email.
I recently retrofitted an non military genset (350Kva) with an aftermarket controller (for the engine and generator monitoring and safeties) an...
Does Mciikurzroot have a company that makes controls for these units? The unit I am working on could use some "dumbing down as well. I have thought about trying to spec a new set of controls - Governor, AVR and controller - but was not sure if it is the way to go. Any input?
RPM's good But not showing on panel meter, Unit will not produce correct voltage - about 25v (set on 208) an slowly goes up to 100v with switch in start position after running. Followed manual instructions and tested the "droop transformer" by making a quick brine load bank - the test showed...
Looking info on this unit. Any recommendations. I have found one for a fair price - says the 3ph won't work. Don't want to purchase without more info.
Thanks
I have not been monitoring this site and just relying on an email to notify me of responses - sorry, for some reason I have not been getting notifications until now. For the record, I found wires disconnected on the transformer on the lower left side in the enclosure. Thanks for the diagrams.
I flashed the exciter with 12V - voltage on came up then the engine shut down. AL 8 ... on the screen. According to the TM 9-6115-729- 24 I have a lot of testing to do. Any input is appreciated.
Will running the unit with 21 VDC overwork the voltage regulator. On one generator I worked on recently, the alternator voltage regulator had gone bad an ended up causing the voltage regulator to fail over time - theory was that it was either overworked trying to compensate for a variation in...
I set the ac interrupter switch to closed, but no change. Yes, I am talking about the contactor on the mains. Being new to these military units, I was hoping there was a "trick" in the startup procedure, that is why I posted such a simple post. Looks like we may have to get technical...:grin...
New to military gensets and to this forum.
I am trying to help a friend get a MP803 running - it has power to the contact, but it appears that the contact is not getting a signal. Can anyone give me a good starting point.
Thanks
