Helping a friend change out the front axle of his A3 to a A2 front axle.
Hints...Tips...Do's and dont's????
Some seem to be confussed by my question. Sorry for that.
Thanks...
Heading to the search !!!
my 2cents. treat your fuel for the winter. Use any heat source you can to keep it warm or warm it up before starting. Go easy on the cold start switch. A Cat mechanic told me do not get it hooked on the spray. Crazy as it sounds. My granddad told me the same about tractors years ago.
You need the erik fix on balancing the tires. He has the lug nuts and the plan to balance the tires...
With 55 psi in the tires and Erik's lugnuts fix I can run 55 mph and drive with one hand.
... Best $$ spent..
Start the A3 this am headed to the Xmas parade.
Outside temp around 38F.
Truck started fine with air buzzer going off etc.
Let truck idle about 10 minutes before I got in to drive off.
Air buzzer still blaring. Never done this before.
Air pressire would build up to 60 PSI... buzzer go off...
A3 front end swap with A2 front end?
Seaching the posts... Had to ask... Thoughts on replacing A3 front end with A2 front end. Price of the bearings etc. has me thinking about using a good A2 front end.
Thoughts...Do's...Dont's etc... Anyone done it?
Thanks...
Tires to wide for a UHaul car dolly?
I have seen the UHaul dolly but never used one.
If the tires or 2 wide maybe 2 skinny tires of some kind to load and tow.
Not sure about the tranny and towing. You could take the drive shaft out.
I will take pics this weekend and post.
Metal behind the attached wheel weight is same I think as adding lug nuts.
How the heck did they balance them to 80 MPH?
