Does anyone know if my colors will run (bleed together) if I try to wet sand where I have two different colors of paint? The attached picture shows the area I want to sand so that it is smoother and cleaner (hopefully) looking.
I bought my 12 ton long neck bottle jack from Agri Supply Company. I price shopped Harbor Freight but Agri Supply was cheaper. I use 4x6's because they are strong and since the are rectangular they can be configured in different ways that make them more versatile than a square piece of wood...
Here's a fish:;-)
If you already have 395's and are running the Cat 3116 and Allison 1545, then your existing top speed should be around 56mph @ 2,700 rpm. If you were to switch from the 6.71 gears to the 4.90, you could realize another 37% speed increase. So, yeah, theoretically you could...
I didn't need the formula. Someone questioned my calculations so I was wanting to be shown where they were wrong. Turns out, my calculations weren't wrong, the other person was using an incorrect parameter in their calculations.
But now the formula is there for all those needing to be taught...
Tom,
Using your equation I get the same numbers as when doing it my way. I think your original calculations were off because you were using the wrong rpm.
So... To answer your original question that started this mini thread: Yes I do think it is worth it ($2,400 for 2 Ouverson gears) to get...
I haven't bought the tires yet so I don't know the speed rating. It is something I will carefully consider when deciding on tires though. I didn't say I was going to travel at 78.8 mph. That is simply the mathematically calculated top speed. Please explain to me how the heck I am screwing...
Yeah, BUT, I am not turning 2,200 rpm. The cat will do 2,700 all day every day.
So... according to your math, if you apply the right rpm:
(56 / 2200) x 2700 = 68.73 mph which is basically the 68.5 that I have shown above.
You really need not even apply pi to figure this out. Given that I...
m-35tom,
Is my math wrong?
6.71 / 4.9 = 1.37
Basically a 37% increase in final drive speed from the Ouverson gear set.
On my M35A3 I can run 50mph at 2,700 rpm with the 3116 Cat.
So 50mph x 1.37 = 68.5mph
Tires are about 42" diameter so going from that to a 46" or 49" diameter tire...
Today I spoke with a guy at Southern Gear (Southern Gear Co. - The Standard Transmission Professionals) and after I explained my situation his suggestion was to change the differential gearing. I still plan on giving myself more time to research transmission options but I think I am leaning...
I think that a Spring rally would be an excellent idea (no college football or deer season to compete with). Considering the proximity to Alabama, it could be a GA/AL rally.
I mounted mine on the forward most canopy bow and I shortened the legs by about a foot so that the lights sat closer to the roof line. In the future I will probably weld this assembly to the outside front of the bed so I can still use the cover if I want. However, I kinda like how it is now...
