Death wobble + Doghead relay mod

I'll get on the learning of the tools. One of the things I love about the CUCV is that I can learn how to diagnose and repair it without a degree in computer science. Thank you for your patience!

Death wobble + Doghead relay mod

I'll check that connection after work. I own an analog multimeter, but don't know how to use it yet. I reckon I can get a digital one. Load tester I can get. 12v charger I can get. Help an ignorant man....why a 12v charger? Just charge one batt? That will be enough to crank? Or charge one at a...

Death wobble + Doghead relay mod

Gonna see if I can find some of that cleaner stuff today and get after it. Question- If my headlights work but brake lights don't, what are the chances that it's a bulb rather than fuse issue?

Death wobble + Doghead relay mod

Bought sealed beams from NAPA when I was getting the new relay. Because of youth and ignorance, I told the cashier "Actually, sir, I don't need the whole lamp assembly... just the bulb". He earned that laugh.

Death wobble + Doghead relay mod

I'll have to check that out. Court coming up next week. If I'm still free AND have $$$ then I'll be checking that out. Guess I should start reading TMs, because I haven't the slightest idea what a king pin is.

Death wobble + Doghead relay mod

Sorry, guys. Just freaked out for awhile. I was worried that I had really buggered something up to the point of it being pretty bad. That one socket does have signs of a slight melt. I guess I'll be looking for a new fuse box. Strange, it seems that my brake lights aren't lighting up now...

Death wobble + Doghead relay mod

Fuse, Headlight (Number 7 unmarked), 30 Ampere type, 1 EA. This was the problem.

Death wobble + Doghead relay mod

Indeed. 30 amp headlight fused melted like nacho cheese. I consider myself lucky, though... The socket isn't dead (tested with blinker fuse), and I have a 24 hour WalMart here. I'm amazed how much crap runs off that one fuse.

Doghead Mod + New Headlights = NO LIGHTS!!! Help! CUCV 911 needed! Mods/admins.... sorry for the new thread, but I go to work in 6 hours and I'm in a bind. Hopefully somebody is still awake. I did the doghead mod as per the sticky. I also installed new headlights. Truck cranked fine, then...

Death wobble + Doghead relay mod

Holy Crap! So, my headlights were pretty dim and I just bought new ones. Installed. Cranked truck just fine, then all lights (speedo/fuel gauge lights, headlights, and blinkers) went away. When I crank, I see a faint glow from under the dash. There might be a "pop" when I crank. I think I...

Death wobble + Doghead relay mod

Yesterday, I survived the dreaded "death wobble". It was quick. It was freaky. Then it ended. Hope it doesn't happen again and at a higher speed. On a positive note- I just (as within the last 5 minutes) did the doghead relay mod. This is the first time in my entire life that I have...

    M1008 towing M1009?

I guess the easiest route would be finding someone that would loan a tow bar. But... that would be way too convenient and make way too much sense for me I suppose.

    M1008 towing M1009?

Well, it may or may not actually happen. If I actually do need to tow it, it wouldn't be but a 20 minute drive.

    M1008 towing M1009?

Yep. I know that sounded pretty retarded. What I meant was without the aid of any type of trailer or tow bar. When you say dolly, you mean like the things they slip under the wheels to move it around a body shop, or something else?

How to clean oil spots on CARC

Why do I have a sneaking suspicion that there's a pretty good story involved here?

    M1008 towing M1009?

It's possible, right? What's the best way if you DON'T have a tow bar?

So, what's the deal with trailer prices? My weekend rant.

I'd love to (even if ANYWHERE in GA is too close to Ft. Benning for my taste), maybe next year... or whenever I'm done with this battle. I'd like to go see my old stomping grounds in Savannah, anyway.

What part of LA are you in? I'm right down the road from Polk.
