OK... Finally got off that wheel!!!! No BFH, no chisels. Just patience, grease, and some good jerking (that's what she said?).
Here's some pics of what I've got now. Anything look notsogood? There's a chip/dent looking thing in what I guess is the rotor. Not sure how bad that is. Still...
More pics. Here's the guts I pulled out of the center hub thing. Wheel still isn't coming off.
On the last pic, this was just some bolt looking thing that looked like it had weld around it. Is that normal?
So, truck is in lifted and supported. Lug nuts are off. Having issues taking the tire/wheel off, though. When I grab the tire and wiggle, the bolts that the lug nuts mount onto move with it. That's not too encouraging. I took off the hub cap, and was looking for this "clamping plate" listed...
Tim,
I'll probably wind up doing that, pending weather. Had some other stuff I wanted to talk with you about anyways.
73m,
Yeah I was kinda thinking about that, considering the differences in prognoses. I'd rather take the word and experience of MV experts.
I must admit not going full-blast...
Got two jack stands...i don't know why I called them blocks. Always use them as I'm pretty attached to this whole idea of staying alive.
Anything obvious I should check? Gonna try to get a list together of the parts I'll need.
What's the best way to go about looking and seeing what is broken and what is normal? If I get a break in the rain, I'd like to get under the truck and check it out. Would it be safe to jack it up a bit and maybe put lift block under the front axle? Don't want to get my head squished.
This is the first time I've ever dealt with this problem on a vehicle before, so I'll to my best to explain what might be going on.
I was on the way to pick up a new lower radiator hose and new water pump (just in case), and I noticed that something just didn't feel right at all. There was a...
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Apologies if my search-fu has failed me, but just wondering if there's much of a connection between the two.
After daylight driving, I've at times forgotten to turn of the switch (I drive with it on so I can use my blinkers and horn). My batteries haven't died yet, but I'm...
Another bonus today! My headlights had been pointing way too far down, so I tried to adjust them the best I could. Unfortunately, one of the alignment screws stripped at the head. Thank God for NAPA! I now have normally aimed headlights.
Battery terminals are clean now. One was pretty...
Just got back from lunch. There was a 20p at the doorstep. I tried downloading some TM's but I'm a paper-in-hand person, and printing them out... Well I'd rather get them in original print.
I'm 29. Mechanical ability.....
I have potential, but limited experience. Zero on diesels. Just basic...
