    GP Relay Grounded?

I noticed on three different M1009s that the glow plug relay is bolted directly to the firewall (metal to metal), and thus grounded. I just purchased a new GPR and noticed that they have nice rubber boots that effectively connect it to the firewall with no grounding. I can see where the rubber...

    M1009 Transmission Solenoid

My M1009 will not down shift under load. Vacuum lines replaced and checked the resistance of the accelerator shift switch (goes from infinity to 0 ohms at full throttle). I now want to check/replace the solenoid on the drivers side of the transmission. Do you just remove the orange wire and...

    Door Striker Issue

I was going to replace the striker bushings on my M1009 and once I got the striker bolt removed, the threaded piece in the door jamb dropped! WTH do I do now?

    M1009 with AC

On my recent GA recovery, the M1009 has been modified, although, not by the military (maybe). There is no modification plate on the door. However, thanks to CARNAC, this M1009 saw service in Miami, FL. Someone when to a lot of effort to make the modification and it looks good. Bad news is...

    Recovery Suggestions

I am headed to GA next week to recover a 1985 M1009 CUCV I purchased. A few weeks ago, I was able to get it started and drive it a few short miles to my Dad's house to await my return. I have decided to trailer it back to SC. It has sat for a long time prior to my purchase and was out of...

    Seat Part Help

Anyone know where I can get the lower drivers side plastic cover for the hinge? It seems to always be missing. Did other trucks use these types of seats? I looked at LMC but could not find them.

    A Few M1009 Questions

What is the fuel capacity? I have read 27 gallons but when I fill up a close to empty tank it seems more like 20 gallons. Is the transmission a 3 speed? I can tell when it shifts into second but I cannot detect when it goes into third. Can it be that unnoticeable? Does the vehicle have a...

    Road Trip

I will be driving my M1009 from Florence, SC to South Georgia Friday evening. I will be traveling down I-95 starting about 5 pm until 9 pm. Just wanted to line up any fellow site members in case I need to request any assistance. Not that I expect any issues, but you never know. Thanks, and...

    Parting Out CUCV

I have found a junked 84 CUCV in Georgia and I plan to go down in December and get as much off of it as I can. What do you recommend if you could only get under ten items? Bringing back the whole thing is not an option. Thanks!

    Inverter Question

I just bought a 750W 12V inverter to power some AC needs. I found that the old radio buss on the side has 24V in the back. What do I need to do to convert that to 12V to run the inverter? Is it as simple as adding the correct resistor?

500 Mile Road Trip - What to Bring?

I am taking my M1009 from SC to GA and back this weekend. So far, I have put about 350 miles on the truck since I picked it up from Ft. Bragg last month. The tires are good, hoses and belts replaced; seems to be running strong. Besides the usual fluids and tools, what would you bring to...
