Thanks all, I was able to negotiate a set of XL's so that is what I am going with. Is it recommended to get new tubes and flaps with every tire change? I know the flap can become stuck to the rim, and I do want to get the rims sand blasted. Just wondering if I could re-use the tubes or are...
Well, I picked up an NOS generator from eBay and walah....I installed it, polarized it and now the generator gauge shows the system is charging. I kind of figured that was the problem. Complete rebuild kits are also available so I will rebuild the old one for a spare. I definitly want one of...
My brother said the same thing about my M37. That is coming from people who are not used to the unique sound of the flat head 6 and the whining gears. I guess it does sound a bit like a diesel when you are going along.
I don't think this is a WC, but the extended cab is cool. Check out those rail wheels. Maybe in France? Post this link in a new browser:

In Ohio, I have registered two trailers, they didn't even look at them. You just give them a weight slip, descirbe it and get your tags. No title, only registration.
I could imagine all kinds of uses for this. VERY interesting description!

Found some interesting markings. "HOPALONG" on the pass side door.Hard to tell if this is pre or post military. I would say it is original because all of the other original Army markings are just painted over as well.
No haze grey here. It is so funny, every time I tell some one I was in the Navy the first natural question is "What ship were you on?" The answer is always, " Never stepped foot on a ship, every where we went we went by air plane". I spent many a 12 hour shift weighing equipment and conex...
RE: Re: New jacket fo rthe Ole M37
Well, I know they had them. Here is a photo from 1968 of a Seabee project under construction in Quang Tri City in Viet Nam Notice the M37B1 in the background.
The really cool thing is the decals Dave made for me. They are top notch.
I got my new SEABEE decals in from Dave Schwarz at http://www.i2k.com/~schwarzd/ They turned out great. Well making this M37 a Navy truck means the Army stars have to go. I bought 2 gallons of 24087 from Rapco and I have decided that this stuff dries way too fast for hand brushing, no time to...
I need some help here. Ok, the stock M37 rim is 6.50" wide right? Two tire types I am contemplating, the Michelin XL and XML. Both the 11.00-16 XL and XZL tires say they fit on a 6.50" rim. The tread on a XL is 10.9" wide and the XZL is 11.3" wide. The XML 325/85 16 tread is 12.9" wide...
As far as height goes, the 11.00-16 XL & XZL are the same as the 325/85-16 XML, 38.5". The XL measures 10.9" wide, the XZL is 11.3" and the XML is 12.9" My concern isn't with the height it is with the width. The XML tread pattern seems to be a combo of the XZL and XL. More tread on the...
Ok, got the horn back together and if I use a jumper off the batteries it works great. A meter on the horn wires shows 24V But now here is the weird thing, plug the horn in and it does not work, even though my meter shows 24V going to it. I took the douglas connectors off and found out which...
I need an exploded view of the 24V horn. There are 6 varying size washers between two the two sound discs and solenoid and I didn't watch which went where. The horn works, it is just on a bind because it isn't put together right. I'm tired of taking apart bolts over and over.
On the head gasket that I replaced, the edges inside the combustion chambers flaired to the top and rounded over. So the smooth side was down and the edges rounded over were on the top.
I am going to add these to my album but they are in an Epson album right now. Copy and paste in a new browser:

Weather was ok in the morning, a few sprinkles. Afternoon was great!
