I need to replace the front main oil seal on the crank shaft pully. It gushes oil.
I have a new seal and gasket for the timing cover.
How do I get the crank nut off (is it right or left hand thread) and how do I get the pully off?
Yes dumb I know but I have asked a few folks and nobody seems...
I have studdied many comm shelters. Ive worked inside several types and used to own a GRC-122 in a S-250 and still have my M37 shelter truck with an S-89.
If you can post some pics I can help you out a bit.
As for ventilation, the old ones had two hatches on the sides for an AC trailer to...
Ok, recap here;
before we started this venture last week I had allready replaced
front springs, hangers, bushings
all tie rods
king pins
both calipers
shocks
the steering wheel is not jerked out of my hand. Simply stop quickly at 35 or higher and hold the steering wheel straight and the truck...
Well, my mechanic is pretty good with 4xs, he builds and services the baja racers here in san diego during season on his weekends.
The comment they made about it being military was they were eluding to vehicle abuse more than standard offroad use.
I agree about the proportioning valve, I...
My mechanic has again been trying to figure out why my truck pulls hard right when you step on the brakes.
Its been going on since I bought the truck and just seems to get worse.
So far I have replaced all the tie rods, the kingpin cones, the shocks, and the calipers.
The mechanic has had the...
That duramax looks just like a lot of them I see around here in san diego.
Is that the year/body type that immediately follows the "cat eye" 2003 that I posted a pic of or is there a model in between them.
LSSV is a new term to me.
I have seen heard the generation 2 cucv, pretty much almost a...
Cool! That is an updated version of the one I installed in my truck. There is a link to it on my page below. To mount the face plate, find the dash board radio controll box bracket. I have pics on my page of that too. Makes it real nice for the stereo and the ham radio.
I never thought of...
Living in San Diego I see lots of MVs all the time on the road. We dont have CUCVs in the guard any more but the Navy has newer ones. I have seen several types of them and never have a chance to photo them. I have seen at least 4 different body type years other than my old 86 1008a1 driving...
I need #5, the huge bracket over the power steering pump.
All the bolt tabs have broken off and the pump was floating on the belts for probably about a week or so.
Old mechainc, no offense, but part number 9 in the diagram in just a bent tab, $75 seems pretty darn high a price.
It didnt snap the bolts, the bolt hole tabs of the bracket all broke off. Hence the tabs of the bracket are still bolted to the engine and the power steering pump is just floating on the belt.
My power steering bracket on my 1008 snapped all its mounting bolts.
I used the part number from the -34p and NOGO at napa and the local parts houses.
Where can I get this thing?
Also, nobody can match the GM number from the manual to anything either.
My lights are set up like this;
Tail and turn signal dual filiment bulb. Bottom bulb.
Stop light single filiment top bulb.
Is this stock?
I called an auto electric shop that I k now works on CUCVs and he said its supposed to be stop/ turn dual bulb
And tail light single filiment bulb...

All the rest of the lights work just fine.
I thought about the ground issue so when I jumpered the power plug from the brake switch, I went back and removed a bulb and used my meter and tested for 12v in the socket. No joy.
I am afraid I may just have to take it to an auto electric shop...
I nearly got plowed on the freeway coming home tonight. A guy slid past me in the emergency lane in the center of freeway so he wouldnt hit me. He was pissed and I was lucky.
I tested the driver side bulb, its fine so I figure that the passenger side is probably ok too.
I took the brake switch...
I picked up my truck and the tech, who builds off road race trucks in his spare time, says that my front springs are sagging, and a couple are warped. He seriously reccomends replacing both front springs and not changing just the bushings.
Are the 3 leaf front springs stock C30 one ton...
In the year that I have had my truck, I discovered that I had the death wobble. It only had 50k miles but they must have been hard miles.
I replaced the kingpin springs and bushings as well as the stabilizer.
Recently my truck has started to pull to the right and drastically pulls right...
