I will be bringing 8 complete BOWS & TARP sets for M35A2/A3's to the rally. They are complete kits in wood crates, with fiberglass uprights, metal ribs and corners, and three color camo vinyl tarps with zipper windows in front and rear. I'll be asking $700 a kit.
These pics look oddly familiar! :-D I didn't realize we weren't supposed to take any pics. I only saw a sign that said to turn off radios around the railroad tracks....
Correct, but there are people that are taking their FMTV rims that this thread is referencing, and having the center hole cut out bigger, and then welding the plate into the center hole. There are pics of someone's FMTV wheel with the plate installed. It looks pretty straight forward. Just...
Thank you for posting the info. There's no doubt you've poured a lot of blood, sweat, and money into this. I think I'll call my dear uncle that just retired from Bell Helicopter. He worked in the machine shop for 36 years and really knows his stuff. Plus he has a ton of machining equipment /...
Patracy,
That sounds like it may be a good idea too. I edited my thread after I realized there was an earlier post that stated the cost was $200 a rim. I'll PM Bo about it!
Thank you SIR!
Keith
NMCShooter,
That is such an awesome and SIMPLE sounding solution to this problem. I've been banging my head trying to figure how to get my FMTV rims to work on my deuce, without having to pay thousands of dollars.
Thanks
Keith
Ian,
For me, it was a financial decision. The 5-Ton is a MUCH nicer truck than the Deuce. It has newer technology, power steering and automatic transmission. I've driven both the Deuce and the 5-Ton, the 5-Ton is a lot easier to drive, quieter, and just seems more fun. BUT the 5-Ton does...
You're right down the road from me. Heck, I have a cousin who is a city council member for Crowley! Welcome aboard!
I just sold my M923 5-Ton last week and bought a M35A2 yesterday.
There's a guy down in Waxahachie named John Colwell who has a business buying and selling Military Vehicles...
SOLD IT!
Also, bought a new toy, a 1972 M35A2! Now I'll start working on it!
The reason for selling the 5-Ton was to get a multifuel engine truck. I have unlimited supply of used oil to mix with diesel and run through the truck which will cut my fuel bill by half or more, depending on how...
Mike,
Another OUTSTANDING job Sir! You build awesome trucks, and you're detail to attention in work AND posts/pics have help me with my own projects and I'm sure they have helped others.
Thank you Sir!
I'm doing some research and was wondering if anyone had a ball park price for having an M109 transported from Barstow CA to Fort Worth, Texas in the next 2 weeks? It would have to be picked up at Barstow and would be dropped off at Meacham Airport in Fort Worth.
This isn't a done deal, but...
wsucougarx,
Your thread was awesome, and led me to follow your lead when I painted my 5-Ton. I just painted it in 4-5 months ago and used the paint code on the can that I posted a pic of earlier in this thread. I'm not sure if it's the exact same formula as what's on your can label, but it...
swbradley1 and Repo,
Thanks for the comments. I used the small 4" and 6" wide rollers and it turned out GREAT. There was a long cure time, approximately 2 weeks to get really good and hard, but it looks great now.
Palskidoo,
In reference to your PM, I'm attaching a pic of the paint can...
Also,
Like swbradley1 said, I sanded and ground off the large burrs, and paint runs left from the military's less than stellar paint job, primed, and then painted.
There are a TON of threads about painting military vehicles on this site. Some people choose to spray on the paint, some roll...
There may be a slow down, but a lot of people don't realize just how BIG GL is. They are part of a larger company that includes TruckCenter.com. My thought is that GL and TruckCenter would be able to transport vehicles on their own. They are already doing that here in Fort Worth. The trucks...
DodgerRoger, Welcome to the Green Affliction
That's a nice looking truck you have! I just purchased my first piece of green steel (M923 5-Ton) last September. I'm hooked now and have Green blood running through my veins!
If you're ever down in the Fort Worth area, give me a shout...
