the modern low sulpher diesel fuel is a source of trouble it is too light and not enough oil to lubrcate parts.you need to add oil occasionally.i use some outboard oil.it helps with solving intermittent problems.
can take up to 60 business days for the first.averages 10 days for additional euc.remember this when bidding.if buying a vechicle you will also have to wait for the sf97.owning a military vechicle can be time consuming.
i would suggest one from a southern base.will bring more money but better and easier to build.i just bought a nearly perfect body.needs glass, wiring in the dash.a few small items.will make a good project.i currently have 5 cucvs.
most of the trucks sold have wiring issues.usually due t o cannibilazition.you need a tm if you own a cucv.you will need it for wiring troubleshooting and repair..
tailgate m1009
i could use the internal parts to the old tailgate.i have one that is gutted except for the glass.the tailgate is the most problem area on a m1009.i wish gm would have used barn doors like a suburban
the plugs seem to be the weakest link for me.there are several ways to solve the cold start problems.i remove and check all mine at least yearly.add a heavy duty relay and a manual override doesnt hurt.i have never had to use mine.i had 2 plugs out and when weather was average it started...
the bearing may still be available from gm.press the unit apart.if you are careful it may come apart.the core value is reasonable.it might be easy to fix.
the contact body made by able mfg co. model ago-10 is very strong it has crossmembers at 16"on center.and a heavy guage floor.it is cramped by virtue of equiptment.you need the roof for weather protection.the body with welder and equiptment sold for more than the cab and chassis
you can attach a gin pole setup using the anchor points for the shackles.install a d ring and use a chain hoist.it doesnt have anything to do with the body.it is adaquate for a medium load like that.a modern cherry picker is foldable and portable.a better choice.but a gin pole is easier to move...
if you just got this and are geeting ready to start it i would bleed fuel system.then check operation of each glow plug.will make life easier all around.you need good quality batteries as well.
remove the shackles in the rear and have a boom made.use a chain hoist.design the boom to be removable the m1031 is the most versitale service truck you can buy.it is capable off road but slow on the highway.i own 2 of them.i aso have a dodge cummins that i use on the highway.
