If there is it is not hooked up on this truck. It will start with the clutch in or out. I have started the truck since I got it in everything from low to high and neutral. As I was holding start and pulling up on the transfer lever you could hear the starter kick in rapid succession like it was...
The grounds were all cleaned about a year ago when the truck was painted. I did check the ground by the box and it was clean. However, I cleaned again and bolted back down.
Guys, I need help with this! I have broken down twice because of this now and can’t be stranded anymore. This is an M813 with the 250. When driving the engine suddenly dies with no warning. I pull over, move the run switch to “start” and absolutely nothing no click from the starter or anything...
Not what I wanted to hear but that is the way I was leaning anyways. So it looks like I will me making the trip in the Super Duty. In regards to the transfer case, do you guys recommend having it rebuilt locally, or trying to source a new or rebuilt one? Can they be "split" and easily serviced...
Hello, my friend and I were working on the 1970 M813 truck getting it ready for an around 800 mile round trip to Findlay later this week. We drained the transfer case and the fluid was very dark and nasty. Attached to the magnetic plug there were these strips of metal. I could reach in the drain...
Thanks everyone for the great information! I went ahead and cancelled my appointment with him as I do not want anything not close to correct. He said he has 14K in it, and was willing to take 10, and by your comments and other research I know we are really far apart (even if I would take civi...
I found a picture of the title and it says model unknown but the year is listed as 1956. I also found another data place picture where the dimensions is listed and it states it is an "truck, utility, 1/4 ton, 4x4, M 38"
Hello,
I am wanting to venture into the Willys/Jeep vehicles. So far I have only had 5 tons. I have an opportunity to purchase this Willys from a person in my same town. Since I literally know very little about them I am looking for an honest assessment as to its value or anything I should...
Thanks for the input! To me it seems like its a roll of the dice on a refurbished unit vs a higher mileage or hour unit. Either one could have an issue. If the price is right I would still pick the rebuild.
Hello, I am looking at a M925A2 that was rebuilt in 2009 by Red River. I had saw a comment by a member before that says to steer clear of any "rebuilds" as they are more trouble that other non reconditioned trucks. Has anyone else had good or bad experiences around rebuilt trucks? Thanks
Sorry for the delay! I randomly checked this and saw the huge response. I did not get the emails saying anyone else responded. I ended up purchasing the plug and washer from Memphis Equipment. I was in the area looking at other trucks and figured I would check their parts department...
Thats a good idea. I hear that they build oil pressure faster with the spin on type but not sure. I was hoping someone has the thread measurements so I could special order a match. Obviously I hate to take it out and leave it without oil while I figure something out.
Hello, I found this in the manual at one point but never could find the part #. I am getting ready to do the first oil change on my truck since I have had it. Its a 70 XM813 with the NHC-250. The drain plug center square is stripped out. I would like to get a new magnetic plug and washer. Does...
Yesterday I did more work on the lines. I realized that the small flex tube connecting the MC to the main lines was a much smaller diameter than the line that goes to the rear brakes. Upon closer inspection the smaller line looks like what a car would have on the front brakes. Upon removing the...
I will give that a go tomorrow! I have taken the fittings to the local place that made the custom brake lines they do all types of custom hoses. They claim they have no better way of doing this than what I have. It would be really nice if the common brake line fitting would bolt directly to the...
Hello,
Ever since I bought my XM813 it has required a triple press of the brakes. 1 pump little to no braking force, second pump, much more break power, third pump great brakes, but if you push too hard prepare for tire chirping.
I found a leak where the all new brake lines connect to the new...
I will gather those other pictures tomorrow and post them. It has a new diesel power heater that was on it when I purchased. It needs to be plumbed to the diesel tank, and into the cab, but should then be ready to work.
