Added an in bed tool box moved my chain fall and tow bar there also put some reflectors in it along with some rope and heavy webbing . Box was originally for a Suburban being used as a Medic unit . Marine grade plywood pull out drawer just had to make a handle that better suited me to open it ...
My rookie Exp last Jan.
Since you asked and I really didn't research driving a 5 ton in the snow in a Blizzard of 52 inches I would like to share my exp. despite how embarrassing it is . My brother did 20+ years when I sent him the pic the day it happened he said "why didn't you chain it up" ...
30% contained is better than what I heard on Wednesday when I got the call to go, unfortunately 3 of us put in as part of the National Capital Region IMT to assist the USFS at the command post but we're all denied due to budget cuts. I know there's plenty of UH-60s and CH-47s working and at...
Some pics of our Legacy Striker and Global Striker at work and also a M923 from the town of Mayfield PA where I grew up that was converted to a brush rig and DCFD Striker 1500.
For some reason I never saw this thread till today . I posted pics of the new USMC P-19 replacement and two pics of an unknown Crash Truck that was assigned to the National Guard in Lancaster PA , somewhere I have pics that show the old school air operated kinsman rescue tool, one of many before...

My truck is refusing to get going when I'm at the bottom of a hill and start out I'm gonna change both filters and see where that goes . Today I was in back yard which is sloped and had to floor it and after about 1-2 minutes it started climbing out . Truck runs just fine on the road pulled fine...
Yes sir I considered doing what you had to do a couple months back I was short on my chain come along and my binders they were in my pick up truck at the house . I was also a little concerned about having to climb the gravel road to our house.
Next trip I will make sure I have the chain...
Used her for gravel but it was an event
Took the 5 ton for gravel today 3 1/2 tons no problem unloaded it ,went back for 5 ton to finish our new driveway . On the 2nd trip had the dreaded XL blow out , I was told by my senior peers as soon as I got the 923 last year ditch the XLs .
Wes and...
Glad to see a 530C in action unfortunately I've seen a bunch cut up for bobbers ,I'd be more than willing to trade my 923 for a 530C . Awesome refurb of a true workhorse relic there !
Power steering fixed then some yard work
Finially was able to get my new power steering pump installed along with the new hoses. After a run of about 5 miles I put her to good use doing some stum removal for the wife.
Pick up my new DOT hydraulic hoses with new fittings next week done by a local shop here that has been doing it for 40 yrs . New stuff is way nicer than old stuff shop said the cooler hoses were actual vehicle heater hose . Now we got proper rated, application hoses . Pics next week of the hoses...
Ok got a new pump ,hoses ,filter just wondering exactly what fluid would be correct for the power steering pump . I have been told that 15W40 would be fine but I'm a little Leary of that ? Any pointers ?
The ones I have seen are for fixed facility fire protection so if a sprinkler head goes off in say an aircraft hanger the 8.3 would power up automatically and pump water thru piping .
We have 4 pumps set up like this where I work when it turns on to supply water I've never looked at the rpms...
