    86 M1009 Build

Sorry it's been a while. I finally got moved, and my 09 is being transported to my new house in a few weeks. I've been collecting parts and pieces this whole time, so there will be a lot of updates coming in the next few months. I'll post pics as soon as she gets here!

Well, I got her home from the shop. my home in San Diego anyway. I am in the process of moving to Paso Robles, CA. Living in San Diego and working up here isn't working anymore, and it doesn't look like this contract is going to end anytime soon. I found a house with a 4000 square foot shop...

Mine didn't have the original rims when I got it, they are aftermarket wagon wheels. From what I understand, the CUCV rims are the stock steel rims that come on all blazers. You can probably pick some up at a junkyard and either paint them or have them powder-coated. I had my HMMWV rims and 2...

    86 M1009 Build

I don't have my book with me right now, but a rough estimate is 8 grand or so. That includes having the engine rebuilt, paint job, donor blazer for the axles and misc. parts. A couple of orders to LMC, glow plug card, HMMWV rims re-centered and powder-coated. I'll probably end up with about...

Finally got the lift and 3/4 ton axles underneath her. Also replaced the head light adjustment tabs, headlights, tail light lenses, and the brake master cylinder. After the mechanic gets the brakes bled, she will be ready to run down the road. Still waiting on the title from the place I...

    M1009 Cargo Management

Well, I drew up my drawer system, but my ideas aren't translating very well to 3D drawings. I think its going to be efficient and useful, but the drawing just doesn't do it justice. If anyone has any other ideas or pics, please keep them coming!

    M1009 Cargo Management

Forest522, Thanks for the pics! How much weight do you think those rollers can handle? I am looking at a similar design, but a little taller, and one drawer will be for tools, chains, and other heavy stuff.

    M1009 Cargo Management

Its funny you mentioned Carcedcucv, his videos are what started my interest in the M1009! I looked at his videos again yesterday and I would REALLY like to get a set of those drawers he has in his '09. Pot some pics up when you can. I think your referring to a specific model. When I got...

    M1009 Cargo Management

Your absolutely right. Quality is directly related to expense, and I don't have a problem paying for quality products that fill a need. I'm estimating about 300 - 500 bucks for for the slides alone. I found this site: www.jonathanengr.com I haven't gotten a quote yet, but it has a "build...

    M1009 Cargo Management

They are really nice, i know a couple people who have them. Worth the money, from what i hear. Not willing to spend that kind of money for something that isn't specific to my needs though. I've been searching on line for some heavy duty slides, but i need to do some measuring before i order...

    M1009 Cargo Management

I checked those out, and even got a quote for the simple 1 drawer design. It was over 1800.00 with shipping. Think i mentioned that site in my initial post?

    M1009 Cargo Management

I never thought of that option. I like the idea of being able to have gear stored in containers ready-to-go and only taking what is needed for the specific event. Maybe you can use the info in the link in post #2. The sleeping surface looks to be about 10" from the floor.

    M1009 Cargo Management

That has some elements of what I am looking to do, but I would like to keep the rear seat available, and fold it down when I am going to sleep in it. I plan on building permanent sliding drawers, in the back half, that have locks to store gear in. I started to 3D drawing last night, but wasn't...

    M1009 Cargo Management

For all those people following my build thread, I'm getting close to being able to start working on the interior. I am working up different cargo management designs, and am looking for ideas. I'm a visual person and pics are literally worth a thousand words to me, so if you have any pics...

The paint job is done. I've been out of town for about a month, so i havent seen the details. My friend sent me these pics. The last big piece will be to put the lift and new axles underneath it. After that, it should be ready to come home!

    1984 m1009 CUCV rebuild

I have been putting off ordering this console because i was unsure how it would work with the shifter and what overall length i would need. Thanks for the info! Do you happen to have the part numbers for the mounting plate and feet? If not, can you post the dimensions of them? I'm not sure...

The first coat of paint is done, and the top still needs to be painted. Had to use a donor tailgate from the donor civi blazer. The original had too much rust.

    86 M1009 Build

All the body work is done and its primered. Hopefully it will get painted sometime this week. All the rust on the top was cut out and replaced with new metal. The rest of the body was really straight and only needed a little sanding and a skim coat of filler to make straight. The doors still...
