That is a good idea, and I might add that to the initial installation. There will also be 3 separate fuses for each relay power lead, in case one one relay goes down or blows the fuse I won't lose all my lights at once.
Once I get a final configuration together, I will update my wiring...
That's exactly what I'm doing, and ceramic connectors are definitely going to be installed. I should have explained my plans a little better in the original post, sorry for the confusion everyone. If bulb life becomes a problem I will either remove the 2nd relay all together, or put a switch...
I guess i didnt say it before, my truck has already been converted to 12v when i got it, and i'm keeping it that way. The first relay is powering both high beams. The second relay is to turn on low beams with the highs, and the third relay is for low only. Since I'm removing the stock...
I'm not worried about keeping my wiring harness stock. I am creating a custom diagram as i modify things. I like a clean install with wires going were they are supposed to. Not spliced in and taped together. That's why i am not buying an aftermarket setup.
I will be replacing the lights with replaceable bulb housing, and higher wattage bulbs. That was my intention behind upgrading to ceramic plugs. At some point, I may replace with HID bulbs, but I don't want to spend the money on a good set if I don't need them.
I guess since I am replacing...
I've read through several threads about people installing aftermarket headlight wiring harnesses and the varying quality and prices.
My question is, if I install a set of relays into the stock wiring harness that draws +12v from the engine wiring harness block and uses the stock wiring to the...
So just a little update. Got the civy battery trays in. and 2 Optima Red Top batteries. Also, the PO wired to manual glow plug switch to +12v instead of ground, so I had relay chatter. Naturally I assumed that the relay was bad and bought a new one. After I installed it, it still...
I used the part numbers you posted for the sending units, but I'm not 100% sure that my temp gauge is working either. It does move very slightly if I let the truck run for a couple of minutes, but my mechanic is still working on the engine, and other things and doesn't want to keep the truck...
So I was able to verify my wiring this week, all my gauges work. It looks like richingalveston has already posted his wiring pin-out, and I think we have the same thing, but maybe this will help someone.
I still havent decided on rhino lining, but it is going to be painted flat black, well I'm having the paint mixed to match the powder coating that I've had done on the rims. It's not completely flat but not really a satin finish either, somewhere in between.
I know black isn't the preferred...
Thanks, it's taken me forever but my buddy has been slow and he finally had a chance to get the engine work done. Now i can start getting everything else going.
Just a little update. The engine has been rebuilt and is running good. Got the civvy gauge installed and all the gauges are working. The body work should be started this week, and hopefully painted next week. Heres a few pics.
As part of the resurrection of my '09 I am installing a civy dash cluster with guages. I've gone over the wiring diagram and traced all the leads. I think I have a good diagram of what wires need to be switched, but I won't know if its going to work until my engine gets back from the...
Its going slow. The engine should be going back in soon, and the body work should be starting in the next week or two. My buddy is doin the engine for basically cost so its not high on the list of priorities. And the body guy is his employee, so its at about the same level. I really hoped it...
patracy, Thanks for the info. I'll take my chances and run the 37s, but keep an eye on them and check the rims regularly for anything fishy going on! I have been looking into getting a remote tire pressure gauge setup to, but am having trouble finding a system that will work with the internal...
I see, so what is the max pressure recommended for the 8 bolts? I have a few different trucks ranging from 33s to 40s and I don't run more than 35psi for any of them. What is the recoomended operating pressure for the 37 in HMMWV tires?
