    Running Hmmwv wheels question

Doghead, I'm still in the process of rebuilding most of my truck. Just wondering why its not a good idea to use 8 bolts for 37s? I have a set of 8 bolts that have been re-centered and have rock rings already installed. I was planning on putting 37s on when the time came.

    86 M1009 Build

So here are my two ideas for exterior paint. Done right, I think both will look good. The Rhino lining will give me a better protective coat, but it will be a huge PITA if I ever decide I want to change the color. But that's not likely. All the trucks and motorcycles I own are black. The...

A little update. The bottom end of the engine I bought has some weird noises coming out of it....SOOO I'm going to have the machinist next door take both engines and make one good one out of it. The good part is i already have a freshly machined crank so it will basically come down to a valve...

    Turbo 350 to a 6.2L

The 205 and TH350 both came out of a 82 blazer. They were bolted together and driving before the guy I bought it from ripped out the engine and tranny to put in his build. He decided to go with a 700r instead of the th350. I'm assuming they are stock, but the axles were swapped so I can't...

    Turbo 350 to a 6.2L

ODdave, I know the TH350 doesn't have over drive, but how is the gearing compared to the stock in the 1009? The axles I'm swapping in are D60 and 14BFF with 4.56 gears. What can I expect for RPMs running down the road?

    Turbo 350 to a 6.2L

Ok, so basically I will be putting the transmission, t-case, driveshafts, 1 ton axles, and cross members from my donor blazer into my m1009. At this point it might be faster to take the body off my truck and put it on the donor frame! ODdave, thanks for the input. I feel better about swapping...

    Turbo 350 to a 6.2L

Ohh and my engine is from a HMMWV, I think it came with a TV cable adapter plate, I'll have to verify that though.

    Turbo 350 to a 6.2L

The tranny was originally bolted in the donor blazer I have, and to the np205 I have. I'm just worried about how well it will do under load. The guy wants $350 for it, and it has a shift kit in it. I have been reading on line since I posted and it seems that people don't have much faith in...

    Turbo 350 to a 6.2L

I did a search and didn't come up with anything. Can anyone tell me if a T350 tranny will hookup to the 6.2L? The guy I bought my donor blazer (1982) from figured out it won't work on his project so he asked if I want it. I already have the NP205 that I am planning on putting on my blazer...

    86 M1009 Build

I'm not sure how much is going to be left. I'll be putting the best parts on the CUCV and the parts left over will be for sale, or free depending on condition. The axles and suspension will be swapped so the cucv axles and stock suspension will be for sale and the transfer case I don't use...

I talked to my buddy last night and he said that the bottom end of the engine looks good and there was no water in the oil pan, so it looks like the old engine might not be in bad a shape as I thought. We both think it is either a broken or bend valve preventing the engine from turning...

    86 M1009 Build

From what I can find on this site, CL, and some other forums you can find 6.2s for around this price. I got lucky and got mine from a guy that bought it for a project and decided to do something different; he just wanted to get rid of it and free space in his garage. It also worked out that I...

    86 M1009 Build

I'm leaving the mechanical stuff to my buddy since he's an actual mechanic and owes me! I'll do doing the axle swap, wiring, and suspension though. I may be switching out the t-case for a 205 also. Extra hands are always welcome, especially for the heavy lifting and grunt work!

Update: The mechanic has the new motor in, and is finishing up the wiring and bolting on the accessories. Should be a runner by tomorrow or Wednesday. I work out of town during the week, so I won't be there but at least there is some forward movement! I also uploaded some photos of the H1...

You can help me turn wrenches on it when I'm in town. I can use all the help I can get! I'll even buy the beer

Got another question since I have been reading about it. Should I go ahead and get a pre-lube oil pump since I will have the engine out anyway? Does anyone use them, and does anyone have preferences of manufacturer?

    86 M1009 Build

The guy I bought the engine from had it on an engine stand and running when I bought it. Although I am not a professional diesel mechanic, it sounded really good. The mechanic is going to replace anything he feels like needs it while he is swapping everything from the original to the new...

reing kit? assuming you meant ring kit, and bearing/gasket set for the crank? My buddy (the mechanic doing the swap) is going to change out the oil pan and headers, and replace the gaskets for the valve covers and oil pan. He's also going to switch out the tach sensor for the vacuum pump...

    86 M1009 Build

Since I am going to have most of this truck apart at some point, are there any suggestions for upgrades or changes to do while its apart? I also got a 205 tcase with the blazer donor. The CUCV has a 208 tcase correct? Are there any advantages to keeping the 208? I am thinking about twin...

    86 M1009 Build

I've been a member for a month or 2 since I first bought my CUCV. I finally have most of the parts and donor vehicle for my build and thought since everyone here is so helpful, maybe something I do will help someone else. Here's what I have so far: -1986 M1009 with a blown 6.2 $900 -6.2L...
