For years, I've operated my deuce as my farm truck. I also drive my Pinzgauer most days, for any sort of utility functions. However, due to the soon-to-go-into-effect law here in Wis, the deuce will soon be kicked off the road. Then I'll hang it with a SMV sign and operate it as an implement...
Wow, deja vu. I just saw a truck similar to this at a car show here in Wis. Except they'd actually channeled the body down around the frame. The thing sat just inches off the ground.
It was sort of cool, if you didn't get bent about the guy chopping up an old milveh.
And as Atomic put it...
Jack,
This is a very cool idea. It gives me ideas for Pinzgauers, too. It's a bit embarrassing that there are none in Wisconsin. Yet. Anyway, great job. Congrats.

Your GF won't let you have a deuce? This reminds me of that old joke about how much better a dog is than a GF (or wife, for that matter).
If you throw your dog and your wife in your trunk and drive around all afternoon, when you open the trunk up, the dog's still happy to see you.
Maybe...

The Ten Best Post-Apocalyptic Survival Vehicles
These are all practical, common-sense vehicles for just such a scenario as you're envisioning. Plus, if the zombies come, you'll be all prepared.
Anybody know if this was a relative of Fred Dibnah, the steeplejack? Here's a video of him:
If so, it sounds like they were an interesting lot.
(sorry for the hijack)
Jim,
Maybe this will work temporarily:
Awesome pix guys!!
Paul
edit, that worked better than I imagined. I just cut and pasted the link in and the video appeared. I'm such a computer moron!!
Nope, it was a great time!
Poof,
Sorry I couldn't stay and actually race you guys. Hopefully next year!! Believe it or not, I actually woke up feeling better than usual today. (Go figure!) So I guess I've got no excuses the next time around! Now if I can just figure out how to keep the...
Just back from the party. It looks like it'll be a success. Lots of forum members were there, and it was nice to see so many familiar faces and meet up with some I only knew by name. I won't try and name everyone, because I'd only forget some and insult someone!
I don't think thanks enough...
In case anyone's interested, I've got a VIC-1 which I'd part with. It came out of my Pinzgauer, and was fully functional. I've got a power cord, and at least 2 remote stations with 2 or 3 headsets. I'd have to double check what's in the box. pm me if interested.
Paul
Kerry,
Here's a last one I'd neglected to offer. T-Lo's Ultimate Offroad - Unimog and Pinzgauer Sales and Service
T-Lo's got a great reputation amongst Pinz owners in the southwest. I've never bought from him, but I've spoken to him a few times and he was always knowledgeable and willing to...
Kerry,
You didn't mention where you've been buying parts, so I'll probably be recommending them...!
The main two suppliers I'm familiar with are Swiss Army Vehicles Swiss Army Vehicles - The Prime Pinzgauer and Unimog Source and Expedition Imports Expedition Imports Corporation Home...
I don't have pictures (technically challenged), but I use mine to haul firewood regularly. One trail requires us to cross a ditch diagonally. The truck performs admirably. But it does have one funny characteristic: As I cross the ditch, the hood gives one enormous BANG. (It appears to have...
FWIW, the "no driving in January" thing is consistent with Wis. "collector car" rules. I believe it was put in place to make sure collector cars aren't driven as "daily drivers".
Monty,
Rest assured that DOT does read these forums. The DOT atty. went so far as to register for the HAMB...
Hello All,
We're still working on details, but the date and site for this year's Midwest Treffen are set for the weekend of August 7 & 8 at Yellow River State Park in NE Iowa. Several of us here in Wisconsin have a good deal to celebrate about this year.
This year's terrain is expected to be...
Welcome to the club. That is a long ride in a Pinz. I don't know any mechanics out that way, but the previous reference to Vince's group is Real4x4.com You'll find lots more mechanical advice there, from some real gurus. Be sure you order both service manuals (parts and repair), unless you...
