Abrasive Mike,
There are threads on this under Politics here too: Politics Related to the MV Hobby - Steel Soldiers::Military Vehicles Supersite
Here are the links to the two new laws:

JohnBoy,
I'm certainly no lawyer either, although I do know a bit about the issue.
Here is a link to Act 225, which was commonly refered to as SB-392:
http://www.legis.state.wi.us/2009/data/acts/09Act225.pdf
Your (and my) M35's weren't included in this act, unfortunately, at least yet. This...
John Boy,
What are you confused about? I'll try to answer as best I can.
If you'd prefer to discuss it, pm me for my phone number. I lay no claim to being the expert, but I'll share whatever info I have with you.
Paul
Yesterday, Gov. Jim Doyle signed SB-392 into law. It passed both the Senate and Assembly by voice votes, which means that it had sufficient bipartisan support that they did not bother to count the votes.
Here is a photo of Gov. Doyle signing it...
Sounds eerily similar to the crap recently in Wis. Check out the threads under "Politics".
FWIW, most milvehs in Wis are going to be "parade only" registered. That's soon changing to allow at least some milvehs to be used for normal things, but it took work to protect even that privilege...
Ferro,
Like they say: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it.". But in your case, if you guys are already having problems, maybe something needs to be done.
From your earlier post, it sounds like your concern is not so much over having to register your 818 as commercial, but rather that because...
Ferro,
I sent you a PM.
Gerrykan,
AGREED WHOLEHEARTEDLY!! I would certainly hope that any efforts would include EVERY user of ex-military vehicles, including the restoration/collector AS WELL AS farmers, carpenters, lumbermen, hot-rodders, etc.... A bill needs to make provisions for those...
Wisconsin law requires a Wisconsin resident who owns a vehicle and operates that vehicle within Wisconsin to register said vehicle under Wisconsin registration requirements: s. 341.40(2), Wis. Stats.
Here's a link: Wisconsin Legislature Data
For cases such as this, it would be legal if the...
I too doubt that you'll pull a pine root ball up, at least unless it's well soaked.
We've snapped off an oak about that size with our deuce, but it was being pulled from the top. One tree got cut and tipped onto another tree and got stuck there. We chained up the bottom of the cut tree to...
Chuck,
Here's an interesting aspect. When DMV first cancelled Pinzgauer registrations, because they were ex-military and because they lacked a NHTSA sticker (both true of all U.S. milvehs too), I challenged them that their actions weren't fair because they had only cancelled Pinzgauer...
Argonaut,
I hope you got registered previously, because the new plates will not be ready by then, from what has been posted previously. It sounds like it may take several months...
Midnight Rider,
Funny how it works here, isn't it? DMV here sorts things out by VIN. Wrong VIN - No Title...
Carl & Paul,
Let's certainly hope you guys are correct, and that police officers will be reasonable. And you're right, if somebody is breaking other laws, they should be ticketed as such.
I also agree that there are "compelling reasons" to keep pushing to get Milveh use expanded in the...
Kyle,
Due to state reciprocity laws, you'd be welcome to travel through Wisconsin. That's the beauty of it! You can drive your trucks here, but I can't drive mine although I vote here and pay taxes here. Seems fair to me. Please come and visit me here in Wisconsin. Some of us like foreign...

Proposal: AB-592 (09-3284)
Bill History: History of Assembly Bill 592
Relating to: registration of former military vehicles.
AB-592 was signed by the Governor on 3-3-2010 2009 Wisconsin Act 135
AB-592/SB-404 became Wisconsin law yesterday. Milvehs in Wisconsin are able to be...
Just got home and read the further details. Thanks to all who clarified. For those of you for whom 404 addresses your registration needs, I'm glad that you've gotten your bill passed. Congratulations.
For those of us for whom that bill does not address our registration needs, I hope that you...
Paul,
I did not go. Sen. E's office told me I could view it on WISEYE.com and that I could not talk, so I decided not to go - too many other things going on here just now.
As it turned out, I spent all yesterday afternoon trying to download a program to allow me to see the video, but to no...
Well, I hope I'm just wrong about things, but... What Jeff posted is not what I heard at all.
Here's what I was told:
History of Senate Bill 404
According to this link, SB404 was "tabled" yesterday. That was also the word I got from another friend who watched the session on video. Someone is...
Hey! A THIRD amendment has been introduced to the Erpenbach bill (SB-392/AB-589), so the bill now includes Pinzgauers, Kaiser M715 Jeeps, and Humvees (over 22 years old).
Here's the link to the amendment: http://www.legis.state.wi.us/2009/data/SB392-SA3.pdf
Some thoughts:
Again, an...
We (Wisconsin Pinzgauer owners) have begun a petition drive to collect signatures urging Gov. Doyle to sign SB-392/AB589, should it get passed by our legislature. Currently, it is worded towards Pinzgauers-only, since that is the only amendment already before both houses. But we will update...
