I worked at GM Truck & bus at Van Slyke & Atherton rd.s in Flint MI. from 1984-1988. I was a layout inspector. One of 6 for both lines, both shifts. They assembled blazers, suburbans & pickups. Yes.. they were all e-coate dipped, just like the civvie models. It seems about every 10th job was a...
I'm constantly amazed at how high they are going for. I lived in Michigan for 35 years, & on a quiet night you could hear the corn grow, & the cars rust. :) John
The only lines that I know of on a turbo tranny are the two steel trans. fluid lines, that go to your radiator & return, & a rubber vaccume line that hooks up to the modulator. Why don't you post a picture, & remove the doubt that we are talking about the same thing. John
I have always made mine out of steel brake lines. Any auto parts will have it in 6 foot lengths, & it's easy enough to bend up your own cheaper than the cost of shipping them. I you don't have a tubing bender.. nows a good time to buy one. (they're cheap) Or you could bend them arond a pop...
It won't make your drive shaft any longer... but it does make it go farther into your transfer case. Just think of it as a triangle..& you're reducing the small leg (side opposite) thereby reducing the hypotenuse leg. (distance between the yokes) GAWD it's been 35 years since I had a trig...
They are usually on the left frame rail, on the top near the steering gear box. They are put on before the EDP primer, so they ussually require some judicious wire brushing to find em. I don't admit to knowing much about M.V.s , but I worked at flint assy back in the eighties & saw an awful lot...
I believe he's talking about lowering the whole transfer case 1 inch from the frame. It makes the angle on both driveshafts less sevear. I've done it on several lifted vehicals over the last 30 years, with no problems. John
I believe those were put on by the military, & were used just for identification, & specification pouposes. The actual vin. # is on the left side of the top of the dash, near the windshield on a small plate. They are riveted in place with rosett style rivets that are not available to the general...
I'm in the process of replacing the oil lines on my 2 cucvs with rubber hyd. lines from the block, all the way to the radiator. (actually I have a aluminun stacked stand-alone oil cooler off of a big ford truck that I'm putting in front of the radiator) (I need one more) so I will have a couple...
I worked at G.M. TRUCK & BUS FLINT ASSY. from 83 thru 88. I was a layout inspector. They built blazers, suburban & pickups. About every tenth job was a cucv. My crib was about 65 feet from the end of the final line. I was always amazed, when they got to the end of the line, hit the key & started...
I've got a 1968 keiser frazier diesel operated computer thats the size of a large chest freezer, & I'm technology challenged. ;) If I can download em..... anyone can. My grandson is nine & he's always helping me out when I get hung up on this thing. Got any grandkids?? rofl John
I bought one from these guys. They seemed like good people to deal with, & they're prices didn't seem out of line. WWW.SWRACECARS.COM I picked up a 16 ton pipe bender in a swap & am going to bend one up myself for my 1031 project. Heres a couple of pic.s John
I bought two of those from Huntsville a few months back. The cans are 550 lbs each. I plan on making a woodstove out of one, & an engine test stand out of the other. The injection pumps alone are worth more than you have in them, & look at all the spare parts you'll have. (if nothing else) I...
Yep... those are the exact same ones that I used. I bought them on here for the same price, but from a different member. They are the most heavy-duty aux. lights I ever seen. THEY ARE A BARGAIN. These bumpers are simple enough that anyone with the slightest mechanical abuility, & just a few...
More excellant uses of are tax dollars. Kinda makes you feel all warm & fuzzy inside doesn't it?? GEE WHIZ.... WERE OUT OF MONEY. WHODA THUNK?? John
Thats probably a good idea, & considering I'm planning fabbing up some type of reiforcment for the steering gearbox area, a crossmember in this area would be a good thing. I really like overkill in safty areas. John
I'm making another winch bumper for my M1031 & it will incorperate two of these lights. They sure seem to be heavy-duty units. I just picked up a used winch (12 volt & 12000 lb) for that truck. 8500 lbs is probably the bare minumum for this heavy rascal, but a 9000 lb was almost twice the money...
