    My winch bumper

I'm not really sure of the wattage. They are 28 volt aurora lights off of a tank or armoured personel carrier. (The bulbs could easily be replaced with 12 volt bulbs... they're 4" G.E. BULBS) The winch is an 8500 lb superwinch. Somebody had them on sale a few weeks back for around $325. I...

    $3500 M1008s??

There still a pretty good bang for the buck. I've been restoring trucks for 26 years, & don't own anything newer than an 86. An awful lot of my friends have $650 or $750 a month car payments for 5 years on trucks that I wouldn't even consider trading for my m1009 or m1031. With the money you...

    Harmonic balancer Questions

If they have too much press fit, I take a wheel cyl. hone, & hone out a few thousands. BE CAREFUL.... MEASURE TWICE....CUT ONCE. [thumbzup] John

    Aftermarket Trans Pan?

YEAH... I guess I will. I'm pretty computer illiterate, so I can't do any fancy stuff... like vidios. I'm just getting ready to put an inline filter, trans cooler & tran.s temp. gage in my 84 M1009. I'm also replacing the oil cooler lines with hydraulic hoses. (those stock aluminum lines seem...

    Aftermarket Trans Pan?

It's not about abuse. Its about monitering your trans. temperature. Heat is the #1 cause of failure. It's akin to saying "I DON'T NEED AN WATER TEMP OR OIL PRESSURE GAGE" because I don't abuse my truck. Most drivers overheat they're transmissions without ever knowing it. Then after the clutch...

    Aftermarket Trans Pan?

I like to put an aluminum pan, trans cooler & a good trans. temp gauge on any truck that I plan on driving. Heat is you're trannys enemy. It's what kills em. JOHN

    Oil Leak

This is a joke right??? Oil is KINDA IMPORTANT. It keeps all those little parts sliding off of each other. Two or three quarts of miracle oil stop leak will probably fix your problem......(AVAVAILABLE AT ANY REPUTIBLE WAL-MART) & pay no attention to those "idiot" lights in your dash.... just...

Holes at rear of shell above antennae mounts.

I used long strand fiberglass or "kitty hair". It's sorta like bondo, except it won;t absorb water & is a whole lot tougher. Any decent auto-body paint store will either have it, or know what you're talking about & order you a quart. JOHN

    CLUNK CLUNK! Somethings coming loose...

Bad U-joints will clunk when taking off, or stopping, or changing gears, but ussually not when sitting perfectly still with no torque on the drive line, when the only thing spinning is the transmission. I would sugjest the trouble shooting section of the T-M . John

    Metal shavings in the 208

The t-400 & 205 set up is a pretty near bullit proof set up. Any of the 5/4 cucvs that had pto provisions used them. There hard to find, & kinda spendy when you do... but.. [thumbzup] John

    CUCV Dually

4x4 duallys are a unique vehical. I recently swapped a low milliage , big block, solid, 85 camper special LOADED civi. dually for a rusty 85 civi 4x4 dually, just because I wanted the drivetrain (sm465, np205, dana 60, 14 bolt ff with a nice frame) just to put under my 69 towtruck. (G.M. NEVER...

    Metal shavings in the 208

There was a guy on ebay that specializes in rebuilding transfer cases. I think he was in wisconson. It seems to me he was getting $350 or $400 for completely rebuilt 208s to fit t-400s. (with a warrentee) p.m. me if you're interested. (I know I stored his number some where) & that was without a...

    Yanked the flooring out...

I worked as an inspector at Flint assy. back in the 80s when they made these there...THEY DID NOT USE 3M PANEL GLUE INSTEAD OF WELDING. I'm not saying it isn't good stuff... just incorrect information. Rust is like cancer. If you don't cut it ALL out or kill it by treating it... it will come...
