Yes, it sucks to have problems right out of the gate. I had to replace a tranny in an A3 with only 2600 miles on it. The flip side is that you know what you have. And even with all of the time, money, and work, The Deuce still costs less than any "semi collectable" muscle car (just the...
Yup, no offense. But if TSHTF I would be more worried about the transmission shifting than the CTIS. (we can air up/down tires with the onboard, 2 cylnder, liquid cooled, turbocharged air compresser)2cents
Subscribed! I am interested in doing something similar. We saw a 5th wheel rig the other day that looked like it might be short enough, just take the axels off and slide it in the bed. We’re not sure if the bottom tanks, etc would clear.
Any input is appreciated.
Also, a bad ground can often be an intermittent problem. Poking around with an Ohm meter will help.
You have my sympathies as the intermittent problems are the worst to find.
Yup, I was thinking the same thing myself. We bought an extension cord for the welding rig, and were thinking that some plug adapters would work. I believe the cable I bought was 8/3 by 50 ft long.
If anyone has any comments, that would be appreciated.
Here is the ending of the story.
I took the truck to the local technical college diesel mechanics program and "donated" my truck to the student’s education. They agreed to remove and replace the transmission. They also stated that they don't do transmission work; they send them to a...
If we went with a variable timing, variable pulse injection system, Mechanicaly controled from the cab, we could compensate for various fuel densities. Then with a variable psi turbo system, the compression ratio could be "altered". Back all of this up with exaust gas gauging to see where were...
This is a very interesting thread. (Subscribed, hope I can add a little)
What I know from the Listeroid (slow speed diesel) forum is that mechanical, indirect injection is preferred. I think it has something to do with preheating the intake charge (the indirect injection part). That said, WMO...
Galvanic corrosion will cause this; dissimilar metals have different electrical potentials and will cause corrosion at the atomic level. That's why boats/boat motors have zinc pucks attached to them. The zinc will corrode before the other metals will. Also, Steel will still rust if it gets wet...
I would start by having someone knowledgable follow you to see if it's "dogtracking" Then get a four wheel alignment done. A two wheel alignment won't show rear axel crookedness.
I don't know how much of a pain in the a$$ it is to put chains on tires this size. If it is worse than changing them, I would keep the 11.00's. If not, chains are avalible for the 395's but EXPENSIVE.
I would probably only NEED chains around here 1-2 times a year though. But if your driving...

Pics are nice if you’re really trying to sell something. (Up to you) But if you computer savvy enough to be posting on here, you should be able to resize pics. 800 x 600 is a fine size. 2cents
