    Bringing my M1009 home

Eh, probably so. This is my first MV.

    Bringing my M1009 home

I'll add some pics tomorrow, but it's nothing to look at. The paint is faded down to the green. I forgot to mention I was also pleasantly surprised the rear drive-shaft is straight and good. I've seen the relay mod mentioned several times but haven't looked at it yet. I wanted to pick it up...

    Bringing my M1009 home

Got it home today. First off, big thanks to pgwaldner for letting me borrow his trailer. It towed perfectly. I was towing with the cruise off, so there were a few times I found myself running ahead of the pack on the interstate at 75+ before I noticed and backed off. I've never towed a...

Need advice on fuel line heater for a M1008.

I'd try a block heater to help those cold starts.

    Combat Dash Lights

I think they're all '194' bulbs. There's a write up here on putting LEDs in the dash as well as some excellent tips on making the instrument cluster much brighter. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/showthread.php?t=392750 There's also links to LED sources, including red and green bulbs...

    Bringing my M1009 home

I got pretty lucky with my EUC paperwork, the invoice came back in 14 days. Not too shabby, I was thinking I wouldn't see the truck until January or so. This is one I bought at the Camp Shelby, MS auction and was listed as 'does not run'. I checked online and I can get a tandem axle car...

M1009 License plate light, Atlanta, Ga.

It's pretty dang dispicably poor behavior to beat up on someone down on money and down on knowledge and call them out. Some folk are at the bottom of the learning curve but that doesn't mean they don't deserve help. I haven't met anyone born knowing it all.

How well do the brakes on your cucv work?

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but master cylinders seems to be one of those parts that you may buy new, but it may not be worth a ****. We're getting so much chinese junk passed off as parts and shelved in inventory of parts stores that it's a wonder we can fix anything anymore. I've...

How well do the brakes on your cucv work?

When you can 'push through' a firm spot in the brake pedal you've generally got a master cylinder gone bad.

That and the bent steering stabilizer.

M1009 License plate light, Atlanta, Ga.

So running lights = the brown wire. Trust, but verify - whether you use a test light or multimeter is up to you. If you can T it in and solder, use liquid electrical tape to seal the connection up. It works well.

M1009 License plate light, Atlanta, Ga.

A test light is a must for basic electrical work. You can remove the lense from one taillight and then remove the screws that hold the light housing to the inner fender. Once you have access to the back of it, all you need is the test light and a friend to sit in the drivers seat while you...

Thanks. My EUC was sent to Battle Creek today, so we'll see how long this takes. I'd like to have it before Christmas, but I'm not expecting anything.

What are the pros and cons of the 6.2l diesel?

It's the tranny GM has been using for 3/4 ton and 1 ton trucks. It's stout.

Scored an M1009 today, now for the wait...

I had to tell her Sunday, I didn't like keeping it from her. I could tell she definitely heated up some but really held her tongue. When she'd thought about it long enough to speak, she said I'd have to hide it at a buddies house whenever her parents visit. I'm good with that.:)

Thanks for the tip. Quick question, will the 4x4 civilian Blazers with a 12-bolt rear end still give a good donor drive-shaft?

Nah, it's no big deal, and I see what you're talking about now. I didn't know about possible driveshaft damage or that they moved em around with forklifts until you mentioned it. The door I can live with, hopefully the driveshaft is good.

Thank you sir! Does it look dented? I have a big monitor but it's kinda hard to tell. Wifey saw me on this site and govliquidation all week, so I'm sure she's expecting something - she knows me well enough by now...
