    My M1009 Restoration Thread

We've chatted on 67-72, I didn't realize you were registered here. I'm in Montgomery and would love to see your truck. Maybe if you meet up with Glen for the hood, send me a PM and the three of us could meet up. Truck looks great so far.

    Starter parts question

The salvage yards around here crush the older stuff - and those 6.2 trucks are so dang rare to start with. I'm hoping someone knows of a good starter rebuilder that'll have spare parts to sell.

    Starter parts question

Mine was screeching pretty badly when I got it home. Turned out one of the rear starter bolts was snapped off in the block. An EZ-out removed the broken bolt out of the block and was replaced with a new one. During the fix, the front center nose bolt had to be removed and it snapped off...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

The tranny started shifting weird, on inspection it had a brand new vacuum modulator installed but the short rubber line inbetween the vacuum modulator and the hard line was cracked. Replaced it today and all the shifts are good again. It's time to drop the pan and replace the fluid and filter...

    putting a tach on a 6.2

I'd like to install this one on down the road. http://static.summitracing.com/global/images/prod/large/atm-2888_w.jpg Auto Meter 2888 - Auto Meter Performance Series Mini Tachometers - Overview - SummitRacing.com It says it has an inductive wire that hooks up to the alternator but I'm not...

How noisy is your 6.2 lit. M1009

Hard to tell, my ears are old and abused. To me the truck makes pleasant noises aplenty but my sons (ages 9 and 10) say it's noisy and has an echo in the truck. Based on what they say, I need something for sound deadener to line the floor pans and a carpet kit - I love the truck but I...

    Problem this morning, need help.

I just got mine home and the starter works but it did screech. I went to AutoZone and bought a pack of shims before I checked it thinking it was engaging the flywheel too deep. I had a broken starter bolt, it was already shimmed. I replaced the starter bolt and have a quiet starter now. The...

fuel guage goes way past full on M1009

I can't fault you for testing, my motto is "Trust, but verify." But what I described is how these fuel gauges work, even new off the lot. Yeah, I had one of those, too. Admittedly, the other three were and are gassers (I still have one civvy K5) but I don't see where the sender or...

fuel guage goes way past full on M1009

If the needle moves down to E, it's reading correctly. This is my fourth Blazer and every single one of them went a good half inch past the F mark when filled up. And they stay there a bit. Within 100 miles after fill-up the needle will start moving toward the 1/2 mark, but it will stay...

    Won m1028!

You may be in good shape there. Mine only took 14 calendar days. Good luck.

    Bringing my M1009 home

The pintle, radio and antenna mounts aren't really for sale, I'd rather trade them for the shackles that I need. Those door dents will look MUCH better soon. You'd be surprised how much will come out when you remove the door panel and work it from the backside.

I looked that up on their website. That's a tempting option, thanks for the tip.

    Bringing my M1009 home

Thanks, Glen. It's rough but it runs great. From what I've read I've got a lot to be thankfull for there.

    Bringing my M1009 home

Also, the two antenna mounts, the radio mount, and the circle thing on the front bumper is coming off - don't want them or need them. I do need three shackles. EDIT: The pintle is going as well. I want a regular Class III hitch and the license plate to go where it should so I won't be...

    Bringing my M1009 home

This is a nice truck. Everything appears to be working as it should. The speedometer is a little erratic, so I'll replace the plastic gear, but the rest seems to be good. I did get skeptical about the fuel gauge (what are the odds they'd sell it full of fuel?) so I was thinking that it was more...

Need Some Advice. Bet None of You Have Had This Happen

Ask the guy to title it for you. Offer him a steak dinner for him and the wifey for his trouble. Worst case you end up with a parts donor for the $100 purchase price and maybe another $40 for the dinner. After that, you might own it free and clear. Next case, he might not do the paper work...

    Interesting find

I saw that on another forum. I'm not interested in the least but I disagree that its an insult or abomination. The guy runs a hot rod shop and had a damaged 'vette to transform into something. He thought the M1009 was a great 'in your face' type of beast to mate to the 'vette remains...
