put a vom on each battery and see what it says while running. dont know what the threshold for the light is but i bet one is below 13.5 or so. i would also load test the batteries or switch them around. thanks. mark
my diesel injection man told me when changing my fuel filter to fill it with atf. ive been doing this, no smoke on start up and the truck runs smooth. thanks. mark
i had a guy email me from somewhere in germany several yeras ago that said he witnessed the destruction of hundreds of 1008 trucks . they were put in a pit and smashed flat with a bulldozer. he said they were new and never put into service. what a shame if true. thanks. mark
ive bought several bus's from a local school district over the years, they are always full of "off road fuel". i drive them home. never had a problem. im not concerned about it. thanks. mark
you can fix the filter base, im sure thats your problem. there is an o-ring below one of the sensors on the base. i just replaced one and fixed the same problem you are having.
overnight the o-ring is letting air back in the system, creating an air pocket. when you start it the morning it...
top radiator hose not getting hot ever? after driving 20 minutes? if thats true you got a bad thermostat or your radiator is plugged. i have seen the heater hose outlet at the top of the intake plug up. check it. put a water temp gage on the truck if you can. thanks. mark
first picture is correct, the temp stamp goes towards the block. thanks. mark if you choose no rubber gasket rtv will seal it . looks like that s what was there anyhow.
09's were born with 10-15 but you cant buy them anymore, they are now 31-10.50. with the 3.08 ratio they will run the speed limit just fine. i have see 32-11.50 under the truck and they look good also and probably will not cause undo stress on the steering components. downside is a little slower...
i doubt the lobe is off the cam. make sure the rod moves freely, then crank the motor, look and see if the rod moves. if you did break something you will notice a different sound when you spin the motor over. thanks. mark
where are all the spare parts the military ordered for repair of the rear window? they had more trouble than we ever did. every 1009 i ever had , wich is quite a few, had either no glass or broken handel. somebody must have the motherload of oem regulators and related parts. that being said ive...
ambulance also had door ajar light next to the volt meter, and the 3 switches for the blower and side flood lights. they also had a bent t-case shifter lever
and the raised floor between the front seats.
best fluid choice would be some type of synthetic, mercon5 comes to mind, because of lower temps and better flow when cold over petro based. i use amsoil in my duramax-allison
very strange truck indeed, looks like the artic cold weather heater around the battery. as i recall the ambulance started as a pickup, then it was converted. 3rd character of the vin for trucks and ambulance is c-complete vehicle, while the 1031 contact maint truck had cab-chasis vin of b -...
add a temp gage. i have one on my duramax-allison combo and i like it. should never go over 190f. heat kills. i dont know if cold kills or not. thanks. mark
