I guess I need to research the tire issue although I may have already experienced it. Blown tire for no reason traveling between Alabama and Virginia at 55-58 MPH. It was also an extremely hot day.
I was about 600 miles into the trip when the tire blew
Do you have an idea on pricing? Can I get lower then a 3.07.....it would be nice to maintain actually highway speeds if possible vs hoping to get to 70.
Thanks
I called over to Meritor just now and spoke with there Tech support department.
They said that need a meritor part number from the axle not a military part number.
He said that the axle should have a meritor tag on it.
He said that they do sell kits to change the ratios but they need a part...
I am even more confused because i thought that all of this was to get a 3.07 ratio (high speed)
I know that this is much larger vehicle but when I had 3.73s or 4.10s put in my mustang years ago it was only a few things got swapped.

I know that the overall axle is Military specific and I may be completely off!!!!
But Meritor does make bus axles and axles for over the road trucks. They may make there own gears but wondering if a standard is followed. The resellers have to get there parts from somewhere, maybe they have an up...
I have access to a large number of fullsize school buses and various other larger vehicles with similar sized axles. Does anyone know if some other (non-military) vehicles have gears that would work? The military has been big about using COTS (Commercial Off The Shelf) parts for years now and I...
Is this reported mpg a one off or are most people seeing close to this?
My Landcruiser gets 14 MPG. My truck is getting about 60 on the GPS stock. I haven't figured out the mileage yet, but I know it is single digit.
Thanks
I doubt all surplus parts are gone. It may be a long wait to get what is needed or you may have to buy a pallet to get what you want. The DoD is always moving inventory to surplus. I am not planning to put $3000 into AC which seems like the minimum spent by most.
A Coleman roof mounted unit is...
I still can't lift my cab.
My truck was built in 1998 and rebuilt in 2006.
During the rebuild process is it standard to keep the same engine model and is the cruise control straight forward for all of these?
My trucks gets to 58-62 on the phone gps...only 55 on the gauge but it takes a lot of...
Thanks part of my decision was based on comments about the red dot unit not working well and costs.
It is hard to figure out what a realistic cost is for the system. I see fair priced components but the complete systems seem to be fairly high. I also have to assume that everything surplus is as...
I know that they will run well off a generator but if they will run off power that is already being produced through the alternator/inverter that will be better. The truck already costs alot to run so if I can utilize some of those costs to cool it down without adding more costs or noise that...
Are they running it off of alternator as a standard load or do they have a battery bank?
I am surprised that a 3000 watt inverter can handle it.
If you can find the model number of the Coleman unit I will buy the same exact one.
Thanks,
Did the inverter eat through the battery bank?
I have some very high end inverters tripplites from Ambulances that will handle the load. I don't think I will use the beast enough to put $4000+ into a proper AC setup.
Looking forward to those pictures. Are you close enough to your clients to see...
