Not a whole lot of progress on this truck lately, due to work schedule and weather not cooperating, but I am looking at putting a heater in it at some point and found this.
It is a driver side mounted heater in an old parts M35. None of the cab interior heater parts are in the truck, so would...
I'm not sure where the oil leak was coming from but hope to find out soon. So far I have not located any rebuild tags on the truck, so maybe 65k is the true mileage on everything. Surely a transmission replacement would have happened at some point.
Here soon, the starter might be headed up to...
I suppose it is time for my other M135 to have its own thread. I have owned this truck (#4984) since early 2006, but have never done much with it. In April 2016, OkieM1008morrison and I hauled it 375 miles back to where I live now. Here is the truck.
The truck went from the Army to the Kansas...
I agree with the guys here. You have come too far to stop now. These trucks are a real joy to drive and they always get a lot of attention on the road. My M135 is the only one running in my area that I have seen and that a lot of the other collectors in the area have seen.
Check out my Youtube...
Another thought.....I have seen mentioned where guys have used the bell housing off of an old CCKW to bolt onto the 302 to convert to standard. Surely it is the halves that must stay together but I really don't know.
We missed that detail when we found the engine. I wonder what would happen if you used the halves off the other engine?
Looks like the crate engines in post #40 in this thread have both halves.
Surely it was only the halves that were machined together and not those and the engine.
jzettek...I have seen several people over the years complain of this same issue. Keep us posted on the outcome. I will do the same when I give it a try. My transmission is only working in 1st and reverse in low gear. 1944mb is correct that when I shift to high with the engine running, it will...
A little update here. Things have been busy around my place and I have neglected to make this post.
About the second week of November, Carboarius PM'd me and said he had an extra hardtop set aside for me. The third week of November, 1944mb was headed to my area for a business trip. Carboarius...
Welcome to the forum! TM 9-1819AC has the information on rebuilding the front end. It should show parts breakdowns of what you need to look at.
You can download it here if you need to.

I'm sure interested in the parts and more interested in learning how to rebuild these myself. If you don't want to tear down your starter, I can pull out the bad one and send the parts up to you to see what your starter guy can come up with. Let me know what you want me to do.
It's been a busy...
That last seal you mentioned is in the rebuild kit I got. What I don't know and should have checked, is if it is a standard o-ring size that you can get anywhere, without having to buy the whole kit to get it.
I also used the power piston out of an M809 series airpac like is mentioned in this...
You don't want the check valve in there if you still have the original airpak installed.
I have heard that the pipe gives added capacity since you have 12 wheel cylinders on the truck. The cap has a vent on the top and that cap can't be used without the pipe. If the pipe doesn't fit, I would...
