Here is what we're starting with. It's going to take some work but it's going to be worth it. The CTIS even works! First order of business is to find out what died in the heater and get rid of the smell, also need to get the cargo cover, bows, and troop seats out.
Just a little update on this subject. Our Fire Department just acquired a 1999 M35A3 and the DOT is still refusing to title MV's, citing that they don't meet vehicle safety standards for the year they were manufactured. Our State Forestry office (where we got the deuce from) just issued us a...
Well after months of runaround from the wonderful Iowa Department of Transportation we finally got our M35A3. We'll use the winter months here to put it together. I'll be sure to post some pictures of our progress here.
We got our name on it before anyone else so we will be moving forward with this. Our Forestry rep is looking for a hydraulic pump and winch for us since it doesn't have one, anyone know where we can pick one up if he isn't able to?
We are very much looking forward to upgrading almost 30 years...
Thanks for the concerns. It's nice to know that there are other people that worry about safety as well.
We are not unfamiliar with MV's as we used an M54 as a tanker until just a couple months ago and we used to have an M38 Jeep(talk about an unsafe vehicle!) so we realize there are some...
Thanks for the reply, after some discussion we decided that if we can get this thing done we will just stick with the KISS principal and use our 300GPM gas-powered pump. There were just to many things to figure out to use the particular PTO pump that we have.
Well it looks like we may finally have the opportunity to move forward with this project. Our Forestry Dept. has a 1992 A3 with just over 11,000 miles. It has seen time in Iraq, would there be any maintenance issues we should look for if we can pick it up? Also, anyone know where to pick up a...
I have been looking for pictures like that for a long time! Looks like our truck is missing all the spotlights and what looks to be a winch on the front. I do know where we have the original light bar/siren speaker in storage though. Now if I can just find out where it served. Would there be any...
Here is a silly question, is it possible it never served for the AF? It had ~21,000 miles on it when we got it and was in awesome condition, as it still is. A lot of the Fire/Rescue trucks off the bases that I see come through DRMO are pretty well used up. Maybe it got used elsewhere?
I was...
I guess if that is where it served I may never find out any history on it! LOL
Sometimes I think our government thinks the term "in the near future" translates to "never".
That is interesting, assuming all the numbers between those two were used, that seems to be a lot of missing records. I appreciate you looking for me!
I can't find info on the P10V1 anywhere, so if anyone knows where I can look or how it was originally equipped I would appreciate any...
I'm not sure, but I would love to find out. I don't really know where to start though. I do know that it was originally red, it was painted blue before we acquired it though.
Funding all depends on how the department is set up. For the department I'm on the funding come from local taxes. The residents and landowners in our Fire District (~70 sq. miles) are levied a tax for fire protection from the Township(rural) or city that they live in. The governing board of the...
Got a couple of pics of the P10 to add here. Looks kind of goofy right now with the two strobes on it, the light bar we had on it decided it was tired of working and melted itself down. Will likely be in service for only a couple more months, that's when we plan on the M54 being back in service...
I started a thread for this truck, but I'll put them here too. Our newest addition is an M915A4 that we made into our tanker.
Here is our M54A2 that used to be the tanker, it is now being transformed into a brush/grass rig.
We also have a 1970 Dodge P10 we use as a brush/grass rig...
