Nice truck!
We've got an M52A2 with a 3,000 gallon tank on it (Very scary truck, I won't drive it). We also picked up an M915A4 in December and we're going to put the tank on it, goes in for paint next week so it shouldn't be too long now. We're going to make the M52 into a brush rig similar...
We have an M54 with a 3,000 gallon tank. I absolutely refuse to drive it because it has absolutely no business being on the road set up like that, and most everyone else feels the same way. We just acquired an M915A4 to put the tank on, that will be a huge improvement for us.
Our state...
We would love to get a commercially built brush rig, or even a commercially built slide-in unit of some sort, however that's not even an option for us. We've got a yearly budget of less than $40,000 and we have to (not want to, HAVE to) replace our 30 year old pumper this year. We try to be as...
I have checked that site out, not very throughly though.
I was thinking the HMMWV would be the easy route for us because we already have a 300 gallon tank and pump setup in the back of an old Dodge W200 ex-Air Force P-10 and we could just switch it over to that. But there is just no way it...
Just doing some digging on specs for those models and what I'm finding is that there is only a 2,500 pound payload capacity. Is that right? If so that doesn't leave you any room at all for water and equipment. Maybe the info I found isn't correct?
These folks have all the parts to set up a PTO: Muncie Power Products
Problem is the cost, $500-$600 just for the PTO, then we'd have to have power shafts and brackets for the pump made. So if we end up doing this we're thinking that we're going to stick with the original plan of the gas...
Thanks for the info and Pics guys.
Ghostrider, that setup look almost exactly like what we want to do!
I was able to do some digging and it appears that the 500/1500 series allison's do have a PTO option, so I'll have to se exactly what we would need to make it work, or if it's capable of...
Thanks guys. We're probably going to end up using the 300 GPM gas powered pump that's on our W200 right now and using the 500 GPM pump on our tanker that we just got a new chassis for. I think that will be about the best option for us.
Ok, another question. Does the A3 have a PTO option? I was informed that we have a 500 GPM Waterous PTO pump available to us. If that were useable on the A3 it would make it more of an Interface unit than a Brush Rig and that would be good for us. Maybe its completely impractical, anybody have...
That's kind of the situation we're in. We've got a 1969 Dodge W200 crew cab that's set up as a brush/rescue truck. We just got a new (to us) rescue so now we're looking to update the W200 and make a dedicated brush truck. We've also got a 1975 Dodge W300 Mini-Pumper that's pretty good at getting...
Hello everyone, I'm a newbie here and I'm trying to learn about military trucks on behalf of our FD. We recently acquired a M915A4 Line-Haul Tractor through DRMO and when we picked it up our state forestry rep showed us several M35A3's they have availiable and told us that they make good brush...
