Since they did not have the cigareet litter that little compartment would have been a slick place to put that big wiring harness plug instead of at the bottom. But that more astetics than anything else.
I wonder if the deuces themselves and the multifuel engines would last longer if there was an extra transmission or gear. This would double the amount of normal drive gears and lower the operating rpms so they would not be running so high. Just an idea tell me if I wrong.
I am still learning about these engines. i think the idea is very cool and looks like ti is just a matter of some deisgn flaws to make it work better, but as far as the failures that is reported which this posted was started on, and the responses afterwards. I could easily see it being a user...
Well I will say often most of the GL are missing parts. Whenever one blazer has a bad part they would take it off of another blazer. So it may be missing gauges, switches or other parts, and if it is complete be prepared to replace fliuds, belts, filters, and other odds and ends.
I am not...
I recomend that if it has rear lift blocks that you change them to either lift springs or shackle flip. I also suggest once those tires are wore down you replace them with the 37" radials. They will do better for you and also if you are going across the country.
1st Welcome aboard. GL is a good place to get one. You just have to go through the hoops they have set up. And you have to have patience. Definitely expect to do some work when you get one. I would suggest looking on craigslist and ebay. Those vehicle should have all their titles stuff...
I completely agree with older vehicle being better. There is alot of part out there that has had the 23 yrs to proof itself to work. The ablitly to work on something and not have a ton of expensive computer/electronic tools. As far as the speedo chances are its the cable. That is the common...
So much for bulletproof. Sorry for your problems, but I think your vibrations was a tell signal of what was going to happen, but who would have thought your axle would come apart. I hope you get everything figured out.
Not bad compared to ones I have seen lately. I am still looking for the right one for myself but nothing has poped up at all. Good luck with your build hope to see some updated pics.
I think your u joint angle would not be so bad but you have the slip yoke eliminator and it pushes the driveshaft back some, so that may throw your angle off a little.
I will say I have the same thing on my 79 k5. 1 tons, shackle flip but I have a 350, 203 set up and not the 400,208. Looks...
I recommend lmc trucks for the weatherstripping and the tail light, maybe even jc whitney. I bought a complete weatherstripping for the whole blazer for about $100, and both sides tail light assemblies for $30
How has those 9.75 wide rims doing with the 37 hummer tires? I am going to be a running the same set up once I clean the rims up and get them painted? Did you put the BBs in for balance? Everyone has been talking about poping the tires off the bead.
Sorry for the hijack, but like what...
I think these wheel/tire set up would be valuable in the middle east with most of their travels on dessert dirt roads with mines. But yes it would be rough offroad going through mud clogging the holes and would cause the vehicle to ride out of alignment. Also highway ride would be ruff also...
All those that are placing it in the area where the pinticle is, can you use a civilian wiring harness at the bumper and the light set up and just unplug the harness at the turn signals and put the other one in? Will this work? If not I guess just running wire and a light and tie into the...
I did not see it mention but I have been looking at this since I have the hummer wheels and tires and a blazer with 1 tons. Here are the options.
1. Spacers front and rear as mentioned before.
2. Dually hubs for the front and spacers in the rear
3. Dually hubs up front and Van/dually 14 bolt...
I thought about this as well. i do nto know about yall but I would not be using my pinticle hich much, so I thought about puting it there and leave off the pintcle all togethor or have a flip up design like they did with oldr car that had the gas cap behind the plate. Then whenever you are...
I was wondering if someone with a slantback humvee can measure the angle of the slantback? Also the length from the back door to the tailgate and the height from the bed to the roof. i know these are simple measurements but has been difficult to find. i have an idea for a project and just...
Looking over it again. Those are some big wheel and somewhat a low profile tire. i wonder what the advantages are with this set up? i know bigger wheels and low profile tire take away from the comfort of the ride and feel the bumps easier. I wonder how a wagon and a slantback would look...
