I didn't spin the cans while I torqued them, I made sure to hold them so they wouldn't move. They weren't leaking at first, but started leaking after I accidentally revved the engine up while starting it. Later I accidentally revved the engine up again when starting it and now they are pouring.
Could somebody please verify if the NAPA 5119 gaskets are rubber and not the thin rock hard pressed tar paper kind? The ones that came with the filters are leaking bad and I want rubber ones, like the military had on it. Thanks.
Thanks Frank , I have been wondering how to secure the batteries for years. I think I can make this set-up.
One thing I always hate is how the cables are all scrunched up after putting the battery box back in, seems like the terminals are under tension or pressure.
Thanks for all the suggestions, definitely like the idea of the grease. The bolts on two of the terminals were in fact loose, I guess driving the truck around the bumpy yard and the engine idling caused them to loosen up.
This is the second time this has happened, the first time I melted the post off of a battery. I was certain they were tight, but maybe because the batteries aren't secured down it's causing the bolts to loosen up. Do I need lock washers? Why did they melt in the middle?
The same thing happened to me a few weeks ago, except I accidentally caused the engine to rev up after it ran out of fuel. Before I figured out the problem was no fuel I pulled the idle control all the way out trying to start it, then realized it was spitting air from filters so went to gas...
Let me take this opportunity to ask a few dumb questions (as usual).
1. Is there any danger once the tire is inflated, or by adding air to a low tire?
2. A while back someone said it's in the TMs that a tire needs to be deflated before removing the wheel from the truck, is that true and if so...
I think I will do that very thing, but first I'm going to get a new hose to go back there and maybe some better gaskets for the filter housings... they were leaking oil before this started. The old gaskets were nice thick rubber...the new ones are super thin hard paper like material.
Please tell me this is not coming from the engine, I don't see how it could looking like this, the oil on dipstick looks fine. The other day I noticed they were leaking oil though.I see the hose behind the filters but don't see any evidence of coolant there, only what looks like condensation. It...
Dumb question, how critical is changing the coolant? My truck has the same stuff in from eight years ago. The coolant in the radiator filler neck looks fine but the thermostat probably hasn't opened in years.
I love that first video, it's scary looking with everybody driving on the wrong side of the road! You can really whip that thing around some tight places in a hurry, are you speeding? Does the truck have a siren? Nice driving gloves BTW.
That looks like a disaster from the get go. I would like to think that I wouldn't have even considered driving that penske truck down there, but who knows. I wonder how a deuce would have handled pulling the truck out.
