I would REALLY like to make this modification, but after taking a look it seems like the only way to change out the fan is to either remove the radiator or the water pump. The fan on it now looks pretty sturdy and I'm not sure how it could come apart...I'm not saying it couldn't... just that it...
Is this it? I can't find one for $13.00 How hard was it to put on?

Ok, thanks Rusty. I was afraid that might be the case but I'm glad there doesn't seem to be any problem with the trunnion/housing? I'm not sure what the name of the part is the bolts go through. It looks like there used to be something else down in those openings that has rusted away though...
I just checked this and thankfully it looks like the conversion has already been done. I would appreciate it if someone would verify that however. Or at least if it has NOT been done. Thanks.
It sounds like nobody follows the procedure in the TM...to crank the nut down until the wheel stops. Out of curiosity how many lbs. are needed to stop the wheel from moving. When I had to replace the seals and races in one hub the nut didn't go back down on the shaft as far as it was in...
Does anybody else besides me find the TM's extremely hard to understand? The procedure in the one above is pretty straight forward, but the illustration looks worthless to me. I wish Haynes or somebody would make a manual for the deuce like a Haynes manual for cars, it would be so much better...
I'm extremely cheap myself, thats one reason why I drive a 1999 Camry with over 305 K miles. However I would gladly pay $500 for something that would prevent my truck from potentially crashing into something, or running down a mountain, etc. I might be less concerned about a brake failure if I...
So as mentioned before, has anybody contacted the original manufacturers yet? It might be a good idea to have a number to give them of committed buyers so they how many they would be able to sell immediately. I'm on a Russian watch forum and they do this all the time for special project watches...
Thanks guys, just to clarify, I've had the truck since before November 2010. Maybe September because I had to file a lost title claim because the guy I bought it from only had the form (can't remember the name)from the government. He was supposed to get me the title but never did.
How does...
Thank you, if it helps any the truck came with an owners manual and road hazard set also marked with HQ63. What is that referring to headquarters? 63 what? Thanks!
Edit: It was also marked the same way on the rear bumpers in the more common style.
Both front and rear markings were also painted...
Maybe decoding is not the right word, but could somebody tell me what the unit markings stand for? Sorry if it's a dumb question.
I also can't help noticing they are not applied in the same fashion as most others I have seen, the font usually seems smaller and in two short lines rather than one...
Before I changed the oil the level on the dipstick was about 1/2" over the full line. After draining the oil and replacing the filters I added 5 gallons of oil and the level showed to be low by around 2 quarts I think. However, I wanted to run the engine first to not risk overfilling it.
Now...
Ok thanks, good idea. I was hoping somebody would at least have installed one of them so I could get a look. I guess the bolts would have to be switched with slightly smaller diameter bolts to make everything fit, but shouldn't be too big of a problem.
M16ty, that $300 part confused me too so I reread it and he actually bought his truck on eBay. So I don't understand why he didn't get what I would assume to be a cheaper $300 one from GL. I also don't understand why he says the deuce has no shocks, mine does.
I just ran across this and thought I would share it. Proceed with caution.

Are the nylon hinge bushing kits still available? I would really like to get rid of some of the rattles, squeaks and chirps from the various moving panels and brackets. I think I can just tighten up the bolt on the one below.

Another big noise maker I've noticed is...
